redform Posted December 15, 2007 Report Posted December 15, 2007 Hello all.Just two days ago I was torrenting a file at around 40-60 kb/s which is usually my average speed. All of a sudden the speed just plummeted to the 0-4 kb/s range. I'm a veteran torrenter and have tried all the methods, like port forwarding, and all the stuff mentioned in the setup (and even extremes such as doing it through an ssh connection).I have a more than able computer and an internet subscription speed of 3 Mbps. My ISP is Singnet from Singapore and is not known to throttle connections, i have only had one hashfail. My current anti-virus is avast! and doesnt really interfere with torrents. The color at the bottom of the window is fine, and everything else seems to be good.Except the speed. I have absolutely no idea how to resolve this issue. And i've also encrypted my connection. Is there anything I can do to kick the speeds back to how they were?net max halfopen is set to 8. my router is a linksys wag200G. I'm also very sure my com has absolutely no trojans or viruses since I had just run a scan. Thanks in advance.
jewelisheaven Posted December 15, 2007 Report Posted December 15, 2007 Peers may have stopped sending to you.Is there an S, or K flag for the peers which you have downloaded alot from.If it is working successfully before it is still working successfully.Unfortunately you will not always get an open slot on a peer which uploads very fast to you. Also though they may not block traffic, the ISP may restrict total download durnig periods (their own scheduler, if you will).
Switeck Posted December 15, 2007 Report Posted December 15, 2007 Singnet is known to throttle...just search these forums for proof of that.GOOGLE searches can give a broader search...maybe even hit on the areas, methods, and times of throttling.
redform Posted December 17, 2007 Author Report Posted December 17, 2007 there are only 2 proper major ISPs in Singapore and both throttle...dammit! Anyway, thanks alot guys.
Switeck Posted December 17, 2007 Report Posted December 17, 2007 Yes, both throttle...and I can't tell you which one is worse about it.
