charlesviper Posted December 16, 2007 Report Posted December 16, 2007 Hey all,I've got a laptop that is running SP2 and it downloads at fantastic speeds, the downside being it cannot handle 20GB+ torrents on account of the smaller HDDI've also got a Desktop I built myself which has a little over a terabyte of storage, also running SP2. I set up my laptop first, port forwarding and all, and it's got the green circle at the bottom. I've had that for a year or two and I've downloaded hundreds of Gigabytes and stored it on External drives. However, the desktop has a yellow triangle, but the port checker says the port is open. Windows Firewall is off, Norton Protection is disabled, but no good...I have no incoming connections. Does anyone know how to fix this? I copied the laptop's .DAT files into %AppData% on the desktop but I never get over 4-5 kb/s.Thanks,Charles
jewelisheaven Posted December 16, 2007 Report Posted December 16, 2007 You have different programs installed in both computers. You can compare a logfile from HiJackThis from each of your computers.Or you can post it here if you want us to look at it Edit: Also I hope you're not expecting to download the same on both computers simultaneously. You'd need something like a 10 Mbit connection for that.
charlesviper Posted December 16, 2007 Author Report Posted December 16, 2007 Alright.Wait, how do I upload the text file? I copy / pasted the text in here but it was very long.
jewelisheaven Posted December 16, 2007 Report Posted December 16, 2007 That is fine. The longest logfile I ever saw was 16298 bytes.

jewelisheaven Posted December 19, 2007 Report Posted December 19, 2007 First off are you sure it's not the swarms you are connected to.The torrents found at http://distribution.openoffice.org/p2p/ can generally max out anyone's connection. As for the HJT logs: Extra Layered Service Providers (LSPs) even if they're by Apple can interfere with your internet downloading/DNS/etc. I don't see any extra services, but I can tell you play America's Army or some other game which uses "Punk Buster" services/EXEs to keep people from cheating (as well as reporting your computer usage and hardware statistics)
Jetster Posted December 20, 2007 Report Posted December 20, 2007 I have the same problem as you charlesviper as my brothers computer is working correctly with the green network status and mine is getting craptacular speed on the caution/exclamation sign. The only difference with mine is that it mine was working yesterday... It seems that my computer will not auto forward the ports like it is suppose to do. I have Utorrent as an exception in my computers firewall and Upnp enabled in my router... I have tried system restores to fix any changes i unknowingly made, but it did not help... any suggestions anyone? Thanks in advance
jewelisheaven Posted December 20, 2007 Report Posted December 20, 2007 As with charlesviper, Jetster, please make sure both of the computers can download http://distribution.openoffice.org/p2p/ without problems. If it was working yesterday and your internet is still working, is it possible your LAN IP address has changed?Check this via Start -> Run -> Cmd -> ipconfig .That internal IP should match with the destination Ip you put into the router. If you indeed have a UPnP capable router, please enable "error" logging under the Logger tab and restart uTorrent. Upon startup do you see any UPnP error messages? Please understand the computer has nothing to do with the forwarding, that is handled at the router (via UPnP or manual forwarding).
