Wesss Posted December 16, 2007 Report Posted December 16, 2007 I've been struggling with this problem in utorrent for a while now, ever since I bought a new router (Linksys BEFSR41, I believe it is). In the past, I've had no trouble forwarding my ports and got pretty nice speeds. Now, I'm just having too much trouble. I've looked at all of the guides, and nothing seems to fix my problem.I tried forwarding my ports, with a static IP and firewall exceptions...I even turned off the firewall and AV. I decided that I would ditch the router after not being able to forward my ports, which is normally a very simple thing to do, and I hooked my computer up directly to the DSL modem to do some testing. Now, I'm running Vista with DHCP (I am the only computer connected to the modem), and I keep getting the yellow triangle with '!', telling me that my port is not open. I've set up port 1720 in utorrent, and made an exception in my firewall, but nothing seems to be working. Is there anything that I'm doing completely wrong? I have Bellsouth FastAccess DSL, by the way. I tried the OOo torrent as a test and got good speeds (175 - 200 kBps).
jewelisheaven Posted December 16, 2007 Report Posted December 16, 2007 You didn't mention if using the OOo torrent you got INCOMING connections ("I" flag in Peers tab, also turning the status icon into a green check).Your troubleshooting is logical as you explain it. It is possible your router is the culprit, but you need to replicate the same settings isolating one variable at a time. You didn't mention OOo speeds with the router, which is why I am iterating this.
Wesss Posted December 16, 2007 Author Report Posted December 16, 2007 Disregarding the router for now, what should I do to improve my download speeds with a direct connection to my modem? The exclamation point and yellow triangle was still there in the status bar, even when downloading OOo.
