Taryel Posted December 17, 2007 Report Posted December 17, 2007 I have a Zyxel series 900 router and i use a laptop to connect to the internet.I have a problem where when i download everything will be fine until i hit a certain speed and then my internet will disconnect and i have to go unplug and reconnect my router for it to start working again. I have looked everywhere but i couldnt find a solution for this problem. If anyone could please share any ideas about what is causing this and how to solve it i would appreciate it very much.thank you in advance
jewelisheaven Posted December 17, 2007 Report Posted December 17, 2007 Are you sure it is not your modem which is being reset? Many ISPs including mine do not like the connections activity and upload that torrenting entails. Therefore after some limit their automated systems kick in.Have you tried lowering your max upload by 10% until it doesn't happen ~ 10 minutes? It could also be your Ctrl-G settings which are too "high". What is your line speed and your settings there?Edit: This setup means though I am supposedly 6 Mbit/.5 Mbit UP, I only use .25 Mbit UP. It is possible you will have to limit your upload similarly to keep a consistent internet connection.
Taryel Posted December 18, 2007 Author Report Posted December 18, 2007 these are my settings from ctrl g of utorrent areUpload Limit: 200kbsUpload Slots: 2Connections: 200Connections(global): 600Max active torrents: 3Max active downloads: 3these are my current settings what would be the best settings so i dont get disconnected and still have good speed?
jewelisheaven Posted December 18, 2007 Report Posted December 18, 2007 you can cut connections down to 1/4 of current and still be good in my experience. What you should play with is both upload limit and connections.Like I said I can only get 50% of my PAID-FOR line so they don't disconnect me every 2 minutes. 10 minutes is reasonable in my opinion, as long as connections are interrupted for < 10 seconds that's only 3% downtime.
Switeck Posted December 18, 2007 Report Posted December 18, 2007 How fast can you upload for 1 minute straight? If it's not 200 KiloBYTES/sec...then you need to lower that value just for starters.Once we know what your real max upload speed is, then we can start giving you decent values for the other settings.Have you tried Ultima's Troubleshooting Guide?:http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=15992(LOTS of things to try that may completely fix your problems!)
