Stuck on a download

I have not been able to get past 99.9% on the last three of my downloads. I'm using uTorrent 1.7.5 on Vista. There are still seeders and peers for the file. Another problem is when I quit uTorrent it restarts the downloads at something like 20% and then reaches 99.9% again until ceasing. What has happened?

If you close uT when you are still actively downloading the next restart uT will automatically re-check the open files.

As far as stuck @ 99% have you checked the FAQ http://utorrent.com/faq.php#I_get_tons_of_hashfails_on_my_torrents_and_the_torrent_never_finishes Are you noticing HASHFAIL messages under the Logger tab?

Theres no HASHFAIL messages under the logger tab. Is there any way to reset all the preferences to default on uTorrent? It may have been something I changed.

Well if you want to do that you need to know where your settings are stored. As the FAQ says, they are in two possible places, either the same directory as the executable (.exe) OR under "%APPDATA%\uTorrent".

If you don't know what the first option is, Start -> Run -> paste that %APP... (everything between "").

Rename the settings.dat file (may appear as SETTINGS 'DAT file') as settings.original.dat

Then the next time you open up uT it will have default settings

@limpet: Turn off/uninstall any indexers you have running (eg. Windows/Google Desktop Search, Nero's 'Scout' Indexing Service, Roxio's Indexing Service etc.) If you're not sure what you have, post a HijackThis! log here.
