K For Kay Posted December 20, 2007 Report Posted December 20, 2007 Well, My internet has been being really bad recently, it keeps going out, And I want to download a torrent via uTorrent and I'm afraid if I get disconnected in the middle of it will I have to start over?
jewelisheaven Posted December 20, 2007 Report Posted December 20, 2007 You want to read The Beginner's Guide for starters.Additionally, there is no need to worry about disconnecting in the middle, the way the bittorrent protocol works allows you to "resume" your download if you have to stop in the middle. After reading the background, you should try setting up your uTorrent with this helpful guide. If you have any problems feel free to post them below.
K For Kay Posted December 20, 2007 Author Report Posted December 20, 2007 Thanks, I just now set it up. So you're saying that they wont become corrupt right? lol
jewelisheaven Posted December 20, 2007 Report Posted December 20, 2007 Nope. Each file is a byte-for-byte copy of the original. When uT finishes hashing and checking after you hit 100% you are done and complete. This may not be true in the event of crashes or path changes (moving say from C: to D:) which is why in those instances uT automatically re-checks the file (When you start it it doesn't say downloading, it goes through a "checking 0% - 100%" phase).I forgot to mention before you can check out Ultima's µManual (linked below) if you awnt to learn more specifically about uTorrent and how it works.
