Organon Posted December 23, 2007 Report Posted December 23, 2007 Lately my connection to the internet through my router has come crashing to a halt after leaving uTorrent open after some time.I have been noticing many EID4226's lately and I do believe that my problem is due to the half-open connections.Granted I did have my TCPIP.SYS patched to 100, I noticed that uTorrent's net.max_halfopen was set to 75. Too much?...Essentially, what are the recommended values for my situation that should I adjust these to?I am running 100 seeding torrent right now and I increased my TCPIP.SYS to 500 and decreased my net.max_halfopen to 50. I am considering dropping the TCPIP.SYS back down to 100.Thanks.
Switeck Posted December 23, 2007 Report Posted December 23, 2007 Try decreasing µTorrent's half open max back down to the normal max of 8.
Organon Posted December 23, 2007 Author Report Posted December 23, 2007 This problem apparently persists.I have reset the net.max_halfopen to the default of 8 and patched my TCPIP.SYS to 100 and my connection still locks up.I have now plugged my cable modem direct into my computer and will test to see how this works out for the rest of the day while I'm at work.So far, what usually happens is that I open uTorrent and let it get settled. Eventually my connection to AIM times out and my browsing web pages becomes pretty much impossible and I am forced to disable my ethernet and repair the connection because the Internet gateway has since disappeared.
Switeck Posted December 23, 2007 Report Posted December 23, 2007 Have you tried disabling other potentially network-crashing extra features in µTorrent?Worst comes to worst, for test purposes...decrease µTorrent's half open max all the way down to 1.
Organon Posted December 24, 2007 Author Report Posted December 24, 2007 "other potentially network-crashing extra features"Such as?
jewelisheaven Posted December 24, 2007 Report Posted December 24, 2007 Global settings in Ctrl-P -> Connection for DHT, LPD, as well as resolve IP addresses under Peers tab... for starters.
Switeck Posted December 24, 2007 Report Posted December 24, 2007 Have you tried Ultima's Troubleshooting Guide?:http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=15992
Organon Posted December 24, 2007 Author Report Posted December 24, 2007 Yeah, I was just looking at that. I think I might be figuring it out. It's mostly the halfopen setting it seems. All of the other settings like resolving IP and country seem to be fairly regulated by uTorrent as it is.
