kaspar42
I have been running utorrent for years, but now I keep getting this error message with some torrents (so much that it is impossible to download), but not with others.I have read the FAQ, but it did not help.Turning off the AV/firewall did not help either.Any suggestions? DreadWingKnight
What version of uTorrent? What filesystem? Are you selectively downloading?
kaspar42
1.7.5NTFSI was selectively downloading, but turning it off seems to have made the problem go away for now. However, I have previously experienced this without selectively downloading.EDIT: Now it has started with "Error: the system cannot find the file specified.", just as regularly.I just ran a hash check, so the files are definately readable, and the path is nowhere near the 255 char. limit.Any ideas? ajones81
Are you downloading to a network/USB/external drive? How long is the path exactly? Can you try with a really short one to confirm whether that's what is causing the problem?
kaspar42
It is an external USB-HD.The path is <50 chars., but I can try with a shorter one.
jewelisheaven
External drives don't always keep a good connection. If you are running through a hub, try directly connecting it into the ports on your motherboard. :/
Firon
Do you have compact allocation enabled?
kaspar42
Nope - bt.compact_allocation was the first thing i checked. The drive is connected directly to the MB - no hub.EDIT: Changing the path to E:\temp2\ did not solve it. Still getting "Error: the system cannot find the file specified.".The funny thing was though, that it worked fine for a long time after I moved it, but now it has started with the errors again. Weird.Any more ideas?
