billy2 Posted December 24, 2007 Report Posted December 24, 2007 Hello all. I have a cable modem and have tried everything that Ultima lists in the sticky thread above, but my max down speed is around 70kb/s. Most of the time it is in the low teens. My port is forwarded.
jewelisheaven Posted December 24, 2007 Report Posted December 24, 2007 http://distribution.openoffice.org/p2p/ Please run that for 2-5 minutes, and upload a picture of the speed tab scaled either for 1 or 5 second intervals. Also while running it note your Network status icon.
billy2 Posted December 24, 2007 Author Report Posted December 24, 2007 Thanks for the help, but I couldn't figure out how to upload the pic. The download speeds on that were excellent- around 332kb/s.
jewelisheaven Posted December 24, 2007 Report Posted December 24, 2007 If that is the case you should re-check Ultima's How-To for making sure your upload is set correctly and reasonable so you upload a fair amount to every peer you give an upload slot. I consider < 5 KiBps unreasonable, but others here say as low as 3 should suffice. If other swarms do not give you your 3.5 Mbit download speed it's the swarm. Nothing you can do about other people not uploading fairly.
billy2 Posted December 24, 2007 Author Report Posted December 24, 2007 Thanks for all your help. I only seem to have a problem downloading torrents from 1 website, that's all. The movies on there turn out fine, and I've never had a single problem with them other than download speeds.
jewelisheaven Posted December 24, 2007 Report Posted December 24, 2007 Yea, then its the peers being unable to upload (your download) that fast :/. Nothing to be done.
