2710 Posted December 24, 2007 Report Posted December 24, 2007 So, My situation is:-Home Computer (Low on HD)-Downloading a torrent which uses up pretty much the last bit of HD (uTorrent)-The torrent file is big, so it takes a long time to download, and I am still in the process of d/ling. (Very few seeds)-Half way through the download, I see there is another torrent which is more important. However, I do not have enough HD.-So I decided to 'move' the unfinished download of my original Torrent onto my 320GB computer in the other room. The strange thing is that the file read '4.7 GB' (the total file size) when I have only d/led half of it.-I download the other torrent, move it to the 320GB computer, and move the ORIGINAL torrent file BACK.- I continue the download. It seems to download from where it left last.-However, whenever I go to 'Logger' tab, it tell me that the file has failed its hash check.:[*Time*] *File_Name_.rar* :PIECE 66 FAILED HASH CHECK[*Later Time*] *Same_File_Name_.rar* : PIECE 137 FAILED HASH CHECKetcThe donwload is still working hoever, No problems. I just want to make sure I am not d/ling 4.7GB of rubbish. Failed Hash Check? What is the problem? Thanks. Help appreciated
Ultima Posted December 24, 2007 Report Posted December 24, 2007 It's full size because µTorrent automatically allocates the entire file on write to disk -- that's normal. There was a failed piece because you most likely didn't finish downloading the piece before you moved it away. When you move it back, make sure you perform a forced recheck (if µTorrent doesn't already do it for you automatically). Afterwards, everything should be fine.
2710 Posted December 24, 2007 Author Report Posted December 24, 2007 But the thing is, I have already moved it back, and didnt force recheck. And continued d/ling. Anyhow, Im gonna stop downloading now, and force recheck it. I hope I havent corrupted the download just by not force rechecking earlier ><
Ultima Posted December 24, 2007 Report Posted December 24, 2007 You won't have corrupted it, as µTorrent downloads everything in segments. At most, only the incomplete pieces might've gotten corrupted (though I doubt even that much). Indeed, forcing a recheck would be the correct course of action.
2710 Posted December 24, 2007 Author Report Posted December 24, 2007 Oh right then. I shall hope for the best Thanks
