a couple of weeks ago i downloaded utorrent, then saw I was having extreemly low download speeds. I then tried to remedy this by looking for info on the web. Which i did at a port fordard website. I had also set up a Voip from broad voice which worked perfectly since its hook up. None the less as I started implanting the instructions from the port forwarding site my voip shut down. three weeks later and I haven't been able to regain my voip. It does not get past the wireless modem and thus no dial tone. I really could care less about my download speed now as all I would desire is my voip working. I have called my voip provider who then referred me to my ISP, who then got the voip hardware tech who then advised me to write an email. To which I have done and they replied telling me to contact my voip provider and have a conference call with my ISP........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like you need to undo whatever you did via the port forwarding website.

Is your internet connection wireless or just your LAN wireless (to the wireless modem)?

Wireless connections are rife with problems, ESPECIALLY with VoIP and file-sharing, because they do not handle lots of connections at once nor are they good for maintaining a single connection (such as VoIP typically requires) for hours on end.

I have gone to the port forwarding site and re-read all the instructions and step-by-step returned everything(to my ability and knowledge) to their original settings.

My phone is a normal GE cordless, however I am using a linksys spa2102-R phone adapter that is connected with a cat5 cabel to the modem with another cat5 going to the computer.

:/ If you have ISP -> Modem -> Computer -> Phone that may be the problem.
_______ Computer
If it's ISP -> Modem -><_______ Phone

That may work but that was my first idea to try :/ I would double check again you don't have either hardware behind the other in daisy-chain fashion. Other than that I have no direct knowledge of any Ip phones so I'm of little help.

PROBLEM RESOLVED!!!!!!!!!!!

I am learning more about ISP and port forwarding and so on and so forth every time I have a problem. Well, I went into my modem interface through a web browser and reset all modem settings. This ended up wiping my PPP username and password. I suspected this would resolve my problem as soon as I had done this and re-entered everything and reconnected to the internet. Shure enough, as soon as I got into the net I looked at my spa2102r telephone adapter and saw the light to the phone line iluminating. I picked up the phone and it WORKED!!!! I would like to thank Switeck and Jewelisheaven for their help and tech support. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!
