santiagokq Posted December 26, 2007 Report Posted December 26, 2007 My friend has a router, with three computers connected via DHCP. She told me uTorrent was working really slow, so I tried to configure her port forwarding in the router's firewall. But when I tried to replicate my home (non-DHCP) configuration, I found out that she can't forward uTorrent's port to one specific IP, since the IPs can change when one of the computers requests a new IP to the DHCP server (and then it stops working).I thought of forwarding three different ports (eg: 10001 for IP 1, and so on), and then re-configure the applications when needed (switch to port 10002 if now you got the .2 IP)... but I'm sure there's a better solution, so I'd appreciate all suggestions.Greetings and thanks in advance, santiagokqPS: I should point out that the router is an ENRTR-104, which does NOT support "Reserved IPs".
jewelisheaven Posted December 26, 2007 Report Posted December 26, 2007 Erm, I'm guessing that's a way of saying you can't tell it to set a computer to a specific IP based upon MAC address... Is there a reason she can't set her computer to a static IP address in windows? Or does the router NEED to assign an IP to give a connection?Edit: After checking Enrtr-104 I can see the configuration options are limited.. Is there anything useful under the LAN § on the left?:/
