saturday Posted December 27, 2007 Report Posted December 27, 2007 So, I'm not very familiar with the workings of the computer, but I need to ban an IP address who keeps sending corrupted data (67.182.109.9). I understand that I need to create a 'ipfilter.dat' file in the utorrent folder (and I did). Do I just put the ip address in the file and save, and utorrent will ban the user?I did that, and restarted utorrent.. but I'm still downloading from the user... I also made sure that ipfilter.enable is set to true. What's wrong?!Thanks for your time~
torrero Posted December 27, 2007 Report Posted December 27, 2007 Do you have the message ipfilter.dat loaded (in Logger tab)?Set ipfilter.enable to false, then apply and re-enable it to true.Otherwise, there are a lot of good ipfilter.dat available on the tracker sites. just search. e.g. http://isohunt.com/torrents/?ihq=ipfilter
jewelisheaven Posted December 27, 2007 Report Posted December 27, 2007 uTorrent auto-bans hashfailing clients. Make sure you have Ctrl-P -> Advanced bt.use_ban_ratio = TRUE, and if a client exceeds bt.ban_threshold within bt.ban_ratio pieces they are auto banned.
saturday Posted December 28, 2007 Author Report Posted December 28, 2007 Thank you both. Um... the message ipfilter.dat loaded did not show up, even after I changed ipfilter.enable to false and back again. In the Logger, it says that the ip address has been banned, but I still see it in my peers list.
