OCedHrt Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 What is the effect of a tracker declaring DHT not allowed? In 1.2.3 build 358, uTorrent starts initiating DHT requests before I even have any torrents in it. Also, having just one torrent where DHT is not allowed, it still connects to DHT and gets, in my case, 220 peers. Are DHT peers retrieved regardless of whether or not DHT is actually being used? Or is DHT being used when it shouldn't be?
Firon Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 The DHT network is completely separate from BT.DHT can be active without your torrents announcing to it. Those peers you got are actually nodes on the DHT network which your client is talking to. If DHT is disabled on the torrent (either manually or with private=1), then that torrent won't announce to the DHT network and get a peerlist. It has nothing to do with DHT itself being enabled or not.
OCedHrt Posted December 8, 2005 Author Report Posted December 8, 2005 I see, thanks for the explanation
