Frenkietje
Hello there,First of all, im a total noob, not known with much terms. I just bought a new computer with the latest norton and vista.(norton as firewall) Now ive tried a lot of torrents, got them installed, but evrytime i want something to download nothing happens. Now ive searched a lot on the forums trieng to look for something similar, but i didnt come any further then allowing utorrent in my norton and setting current port to 55641 wich didnt make any difference.I also tested if port was forwared properly and that seemed fine. When i check the menu there are some things to concern.tracker status : closed by peerdht status: not allowedthanks in advance for any sort of help
ajones81
Hmm... If your ports are forwarded properly (checked with Ctrl+G?), then it must be a firewall or something blocking your connections. Do you have a hardware firewall in your modem/router? You might need to disable/create exceptions in that as well. There's nothing magical about port 55641. Anything not in use by other programs should work as long as the config's done properly. Please check Norton once again for possible blocking behaviour. If nothing else works, you might need to temporarily uninstall Norton to confirm whether it was the cause of your problems (simply disabling the firewall won't help). DreadWingKnight
Does the problem persist with openoffice torrents?

DreadWingKnight
You DEFINETLY have something blocking in your setup then. OpenOffice torrents are known-functional ones.
Frenkietje
from utorrent itself?
DreadWingKnight
Something in your setup is blocking uTorrent.OpenOffice torrents have been known to be well-seeded and running on trackers stable enough to be able to eliminate most external issue sources from the equation. ajones81
HTTP Error 499? AFAIK, 499 has no fixed meaning in the HTTP protocol. So that error doesn't help us any. :/Try running this tool from Symantec (ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe) to make sure all traces of Norton are gone, then reboot and check. Also post a HijackThis log here so we can check it out. ajones81
HTTP error code 449 is not the same as 499.Make absolutely sure Windows Defender and Kaspersky aren't blocking anything. You haven't replied re. the hardware firewall. What modem/router do you have? Have you checked its advanced setup/configuration options? Are you on Vista 32 or 64-bit?Sure your ISP isn't hostile to BitTorrent?P.S. You still have remnants of Symantec LiveUpdate on your system. Did you use that tool I linked to?
