Weird connection attempts from uTorrent!?

I have some weird stuff going on with my uTorrent...

I have PeerGuardian 2 installed which blocks all kinds of "bad" ingoing and outgoing traffic, and in the log i got tonnes of connection attempts from my computer going to various of universities around the world. The problem is, I'm not seeding anything! I don't have any torrents running at all and haven't had any for weeks!

And I know it's uTorrent that causes these weird connections, since when I turn it off the connections stop and the connections are made on the port I have configured for uTorrent...

So any ideas of what's going on?

Are any of the torrents paused instead of stopped? Also, may I ask why you bother to have uTorrent running for weeks if you've not had any active torrents in that time?

No I don't have any torrents at all. No paused or stopped, it's completely empty. And I have it running for weeks simply because it's on a server and I haven't used it for downloading or uploading anything lately. And turning it off is a bit complicated since I would have to plug in a monitor and keyboard.

However now it's turned off.

Hmm... DWK, thanks for the links. I don't bother with products like PG2 anyway. A custom IPFilter.dat is more than enough IMO, eh what?

DHT packets maybe? Seems like the only thing that could still be generating traffic without any torrents.

But without any torrents loaded for weeks altogether why would DHT packets be sent to "various universities around the world"? It should only connect to bittorrent.com IMO, right?

You're wrong ajones.

It will maintain information on approximately 300 systems. It just gets the bootstrap information from that site.
