hello

i use uTorrent1.7.5 (latest version i think)

i use to download movies(around 700MB) which i go on to burn onto dvd

i hear all this stuff about ratio, does this mean to get a good download speed i have to upload stuff? So far i have only done:

File >> Create new torrent..and then i added two movies, then i left in utorrent and the status said seeding on them 2 files.

..Is that uploaded a torrent or not..do i have to add to a "Tracker" site or what?

Also i am in GREAT need for speed!

they take ages!

i used this.. http://www.zensupport.co.uk/speedtest/results.asp to test my speed,

Download size: 200 KB

Download time: 0.891 seconds

Download speed: 1796 Kbps (kilobits per second)

Client IP Address: 81.15*.**.***

and also at the bottom of the uTorrent window it says

D:34.2kb/s T:68.8mb U:28.1kb/s T:58.9mb (are these my upload and download speeds)

Really be greatfull if someone can explain to me in "n00b terms" what to do and speed up my downloads by 10!!

"D:34.2kb/s T:68.8mb U:28.1kb/s T:58.9mb"

D:34.2kb/s is indeed your download speed in KiloBYTES/sec at that moment and U:28.1kb/s is your upload speed.

T:68.8mb = you've downloaded 68.8 MegaBYTES so far

T:58.9mb = you've uploaded 58.9 MegaBYTES so far

These numbers are reset to 0 every time you close and reopen uTorrent.

Have you run Speed Guide (CTRL+G) and chosen the UPLOAD speed that closest matches your connection?

(Probably the xx/256k one if you're only able to upload about 25-30 KiloBYTES/sec.)
