karsia323 Posted December 30, 2007 Report Posted December 30, 2007 Hi Folks, I got a new computer on Boxing day and it is currently running Vista Home Edition with IE7. I downloaded utorrent and the program runs without any issues by itself. However, when I try to open up a torrent from any torrent sites, IE crashed and restarted by itself. It is really frustrating. I checked the security level (both internet and intranet) and everything is identical with my old computer which could open and download torrents perfectly. Is it a Vista security issue or am I missing something? Please help and thanks in advance.
ajones81 Posted December 30, 2007 Report Posted December 30, 2007 Well, Vista security (read UAC) might cause some additional headaches, but if IE crashes on trying to download a torrent, then something's obviously messed up. Do you try to open a torrent directly from a site? Have you tried saving it to disk first and then opening it? Are you able to do that? Try from multiple sites and see. What about another browser? Checked that out? Maybe it's just IE that's corrupted?I also recommend you run a thorough malware (AV and anti-spyware) scan on your system as lots of times that can make IE (and thus Windows) unstable.
