brownage Posted December 31, 2007 Report Posted December 31, 2007 Hi!I don't want to advertise another torrent clients, so I'll only write the name of the client if a moderator allows it, or I send it in PM.My problem is, that in Hungary, I have Chello Cable net(Chello is the UPC TV Company's Cable Internet). My net is a 6MBit/1MBit. I set everything, i tried outgoing encryption forced, allow or disable legacy connections, but my DL speed still slow with utorrent. My upload can goes up to max. IT's a known fact that my ISP provider somehow limiting the download speed and I can't trick out with utorrent:( I tried to dl slackware/openoffice too. My speed is rly rly slow. I could DL with 1.1MBYTE/sec, but I can dl only about 80-100KB/sec. Sometimes I get higher values, but not so stable. With this "new" client, what another Chello user suggested me, I tested the same torrents. When in uTorrent I got 80-100KB/sec dl speed, in this another client I suddenly got 1.1MB/sec stable. Maybe its a new kind of encryption in it? Now I "have to" use that client, but I don't like it:( I love uTorrent so much, looks much better. That other one is buggy, and looks like an old win 3.1 client or so. I'd be rly rly happy if I could DL with max speed with uTorrent client! Any suggestion, or hope that in a later release I'll be able to trick out my ISP?
jewelisheaven Posted December 31, 2007 Report Posted December 31, 2007 You cannot hit 1 MiBps on 6 Mbit down.100 KiBps according to uT is 1 Mbit. If you have 6 Mbit, it is possible although unlikely that you can hit ~600 KiBps. Try a localized mirror / swarm related to http://www.slackware.com/torrents/ or http://distribution.openoffice.org/p2p/ to test out what your ISP will give you related to peer-to-peer bandwidth.
brownage Posted December 31, 2007 Author Report Posted December 31, 2007 I usually DL from local private torrents. As I said, with other client(Deluge) at this moment I'm downloading with 1MB/sec, while my uploading speed is 50KB/sec. This torrent with utorrent would be slower. Not a bit. Very slower.Alright. A moment. I make 2 screenshots. Let me find a torrent with the most seeds, that should be come with max speed.I started download something with 731 seeds, and only 50leech.With the other program:http://barnus.hu/torrent/torrent1.jpgWith utorrent:http://barnus.hu/torrent/torrent2.jpgOn the first pic, u can see, that the speed almost instantly weht to max speed, so the torrent is fast, the seeds are fast. And there are only 23 seeds, but the dl speed already max.On the second picture u can see, that I waited for a while for the speed to goes up. Finally I got 510KB/sec(this is 50% of the other client's dl speed) with 214 seeds!! I stopped all the other torrents before, so only this one torrent was active. As the number of seeds going up, my speed also raises. It seems my ISP limits the dl speed about 2-3kb/sec / peer? My speed now is 550kB/sec, seeds = 261.
jewelisheaven Posted December 31, 2007 Report Posted December 31, 2007 Ahh then this is already discussed here: http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=31704 If you have 1 MiByte down speed I would also like to point out you are on 8Mbit down. This may not be something you want to make your ISP aware of if you want it to stay that way.In my experience with Deluge vs. uT, I connected to different peers so I have no direct knowledge of differences which I state in that thread.
