Hi,

I use a 2wire 1000hw router, and i followed the steps in portforward.com and i forwarded the ports correctly. My router is my only firewall, my windows firewall is disabled, and there is no other firewalls that i know of. I reformatted my computer 2 days ago, and ever since i reinstalled utorrent and forwarded my ports, its been showing that the ports are not open, and my downloads are completely slow. Before, i did not have this problem, ever since i reformatted the computer this problem came up.

ive looked through the forums for similar issues, but i can't find anything

anyone know what the problem is?

ports forwarded, TCP, utorrent port number

The computer's name still is X-NAVIGATOR, right? If so, check to make sure there aren't 2 entries with the same name in the device list. The last time I had a 2wire, it had this funky bug where it didn't remove duplicates even after one of the duplicates no longer existed on the network.

The 2wire is the DSL modem :P

UDP doesn't affect the port's forwarded state.

@corry29: Does your computer use an nForce motherboard? If so, have you installed the nForce drivers? Can you get Process Explorer from sysinternals.com, run it, File > Save, then post the contents of the saved process list in the .txt file here?

A port scan is the same thing as this http://www.utorrent.com/testport.php?port=38346 except I wanted you to run it from inside your network instead of the internet.

Many tools exist to do it but here is a good example of a simple free one http://www.angryziber.com/w/Home . Set the IP range to x-navigator's internal IP and then under options choose select ports and put a port range of 1-1000,38346

For the IP range set both limits as the IP address of the x-navigator machine.

For the port number I said to use 1-1000,38346 because it would test your utorrent port and also list any other common ports that might be open which helps to make sure its working properly. You could just put 38346 if you wanted but it might make it harder to troubleshoot.

Right. Ciper's method is to use that OTHER computer to tell you via a portscan what YOU HAVE OPEN on your computer X-NAVIGATOR.

I however have an easier proposition. With both Process Explorer and TCPView you get instant GUI feedback regarding ports. Both can be obtained from http://www.sysinternals.com . Process Explorer has a tab called TCP/IP which lets you see the endpoints of your connections, and TCPView's only goal is for a GUI representation of the netstat and nbtstat processes which come with windows.

A likely cause for your troubles is that you are using 2Wire and well a USB connection. (Both keywords searched on the forum bring results of similar user headaches) So I would recommend first double checking you do/don't have the firewall enabled on your USB connection under Network Connections, and then ... trying to connect via RJ45 (Ethernet) with your current setup to see what's up. Like the Guides say Windows Firewall is your friend if you have no other. It doesn't allow incoming connections except for specific allow rules, and uT integrates with it because it is for windows.
