graystrickland Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 I moved all my torrents from one drive (c:\downloads) to another (J:\torrents). I read the FAQ guide on how to do this: 1. Stop the torrent you wish to move in the torrent list in µTorrent. 2. Move the files to the location of your choice ( for multiple files move the containing folder as a whole) 3. In µTorrent, right click > Advanced > Set Download Location ... 4. Browse to the location where you have moved the files. 5. Start the torrent again. but I didn't do it correctly, so all the links were broken, because not only did I tell it the new location (j:\torrents), but was in such a hurry, I told uTorrent that the name of every file was "torrent." (Yes, laugh. My pain is your comedy). After realizing my stupidity, I carefully matched up the file modification dates/times of the AVI files I'd downloaded to the completion dates shown in uTorrent (since every file seemed to be named alike). One by one, I used the Advanced, Set Download Location command to correct the filename of every torrent, then used the Force Recheck command on every one. They all were linked correctly. The thing I don't understand is that even though my data is all intact (for example, the detailed information on torrents shows how much I downloaded, how much I've uploaded, share ratio, etc.), it seems like uTorrent is trying to download every file again, because they all show 0.1% or so in the "Done" column and in the Pieces section, every one of them shows that I have just 1 or 0 pieces. I do *not* want to lose my history (downloaded, uploaded, share ratio, etc.)I do *not* want to re-download all my files.I *do* want to seed the files I have. How can I fix this? Except for apparently re-downloading all the files, everything appears to be in order now.
jewelisheaven Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 If the torrent is there, AND the data is there, AND you have already told uT where to find the torrent... have you discovered the feature of right click, force recheck? uT uses the path and filenames in the torrent to check the file you tell it is what it thinks it is and then tells you how much of it you have.
graystrickland Posted January 4, 2008 Author Report Posted January 4, 2008 I used "Force Recheck" on every file. No errors reported, but they all show less than 1% Done, which is what concerns me. It seems like utorrent is trying to re-download them all, even though they all pass (I think) the Force Recheck process. The icon for every one shows they're in DOWNload mode, not upload mode.EDIT: I've posted a screenshot at http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l100/graystrickland/utorrent_shot_1.jpgNotice how the selected file shows it is only 3.4% Done, have only 49 of 1492 parts (512kb each) and 25.4mb out of 745mb, **BUT** it also shows i've downloaded 771mb and have uploaded 1.15gb for a share ratio of 1.528. I have the complete file. I don't want or need to download it again. I only want to SEED it. How do I get uTorrent to stop trying to re-download what I already have?
jewelisheaven Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 If they do not show 100% after a force recheck it is not complete. Are you sure you CLICKED on the right folder (for multi-file torrents) and you CLICKED on the right file (in the change download location prompt). If you require batch changing of pathing, you can use Ultima's Bencoded File Editor (linked below - it is not for un-advanced users). As an aside, why did you choose to double-post It's like you didn't pay attention to the thread I replied to you in.
graystrickland Posted January 4, 2008 Author Report Posted January 4, 2008 >>>why did you choose to double-post sad It's like you didn't pay attention to the thread I replied to you in.It was unintentional. I'm using a remote connection to my office pc to post this (because that is where I started composing the original message, but hadn't finished yet when time to go pick up kids). Using the remote control, it sometimes causes funny things, like double-clicking. I didn't mean to double post. I'm sorry for causing inconvenience.>>>If they do not show 100% after a force recheck it is not complete. I hate computer mouses, er mice, so I used [Win Context Key][A][E] to select Advanced and sEt download path, then [Win Context Key][H] to select force recHeck. When I went back and used the mouse ONE-AT-A-TIME and waited... it seems to work. Still have 25+ files to go, but it seems to work. I'll post back if it does not.THANK YOU. Merci. Gracias.
jewelisheaven Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 Heh not a problem It was just .. odd seeing the topic with an identical title moved to trash. If you made a backup of those files you re-mapped or if THOSE are the backup, i would immediately re-path to the old location to see if you still register as having 100% of the tile through another recheck. If not, you have no alternative other than re-downloading it. (Have you tried a recursive search on your computer, perhaps there are other copies floating about you are unawares of)?
