jewelisheaven Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 Have you looked through the ready-made guides available at the utorrent.com site? (linked below for ease) Definitely I'd recommend the Setup Guide.I looked through the guide list from portforward.com and saw your model (http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm) so I can assume it may look different but the general settings for "Port Forwarding" or "Virtual Server" should still be there. If you can't make headway from there Ultima's How-To may help you get your settings figured out after the forwarding. Please post any update below including steps you tried and whether they failed to make the problem better.NOTE: Testing for incoming connections (green network status icon) can be done with a torrent from http://distribution.openoffice.org/p2p/ or http://www.slackware.com/torrents/
ajones81 Posted January 14, 2008 Report Posted January 14, 2008 Uninstall ZoneAlarm. It is a POS. Also FYI, uninstall != disable. Try it and see if it works.
xbiggrizt23x Posted January 14, 2008 Author Report Posted January 14, 2008 ok thanks, and i did reply to jewelisheaven and i did try portforwarding.com i keep telling you guys that my setup page for my linksys router is very different from the one that is listed on portforwarding, and yes i am looking up the same model number router. i have just disabled zonealarm and that didnt help, i followed the directions in the guide in utorrent and that didnt help now i am totally open to the internet....ie, no router, firewall, the only thing that is still on my computer is nod32 could that be the problem? when i click on "test if port is forwarded properly" i still get failed, this is the message i get.........Welcome to the µTorrent Port Checker.A test will be performed on your computer to check if the specified port is opened.Checking port 44069 on 208.102.125.144...Error! Port 44069 does not appear to be open. Please see www.portforward.com for more information about how to map a port. Please make absolutely sure that PeerGuardian2 or Protowall is allowing utorrent.com (72.20.34.145) in either of those programs. Those of you using ipfilter.dat should make sure the list does not include the website's IP. After making sure of this, re-run this test by refreshing the page (F5).

xbiggrizt23x Posted January 14, 2008 Author Report Posted January 14, 2008 ok i will try that, but if i dont have my router or a firewall i am very vulnerable, i have alot of storage i.e. 3hard drives i dont want to be out there like that, what is a prog that will co-exist with utorrent? i want to share but i still need to be safe.
Ultima Posted January 14, 2008 Report Posted January 14, 2008 You can enable Windows Firewall. It provides enough inbound protection.
xbiggrizt23x Posted January 14, 2008 Author Report Posted January 14, 2008 ok, what about my router, i still would like to use my other computer, and so would my wife and kids, i have followed the portforwarding site's suggestions but my router's firmware is different than the one listed, my setup screens are different.
Ultima Posted January 14, 2008 Report Posted January 14, 2008 Does the port remain unforwarded after you uninstall ZA?
xbiggrizt23x Posted January 14, 2008 Author Report Posted January 14, 2008 zone alarm is uninstalled, the router is disconnected, and this is what i get.........Welcome to the µTorrent Port Checker.A test will be performed on your computer to check if the specified port is opened.Checking port 48607 on 208.102.125.144...Error! Ultima Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 It's a router too. You're double-NAT'd. Check the manual's advanced port forwarding guide (second link in my signature) for more information.

Ultima Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 Feel free to check the manual's advanced port forwarding guide first, as it does give a general outline about how to get rid of double-NAT issues. As for the Linksys... While I can't guarantee that I'll be able to help, posting here is often enough to get an answer out of someone
