seniorg Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 Now before I start i would first like to start by saying I have read nearly all of the older topics regarding this issue but I still can't solve this very (sudden) problem. If you are still reading then thanks a bunch, I really appreciate any input whatsoever. I cannot download anything through utorrent or any other bittorent client. The tracker status is always offline (timed out), immediately after adding the torrent it gets added to the inactive list. Also below the monitor i dont even see an green, yellow or red sign. Just DHT 0 nodes (waiting to log in). I have tested if my ports are open and utorrent says that my specified port is open and i can receive incoming connections. But still no peers seem to connect. Im thinking maybe it has something to do with my router, it is an Level One WBR-3046TX.But even this seems curious to me because the problem rised suddenly out of nowhere after one day the electricity fell out and went back on. Maybe the router settings got reset or something i dont know.Utorrent is allowed in windows firewall and i have also tested it with windows firewall switched off. Im also using AVG free and i have even uninstalled it and tried utorrent but still nothing.Im no expert at this stuff so please if you folks need any more information to take a closer look at the problem dont hesitate to ask. Als sorry if my english is bad, it isn't my motherlanguage Thanks for reading.
ajones81 Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 Maybe the router has a hardware firewall that was disabled but got reset to its default on state? Why don't you check the settings for any options that looks suspicious? Also, can you try the torrent from here (http://distribution.openoffice.org/p2p/) and see what happens?
TheHorse Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 I trie to d/l that openoffice torrent but it says 3 OF 3 peers for incoming 0 of 7 for outgoing but it wont d/l and then times out. My port 56333 is forwarded correctly but still nothing. Interestingly - I can still connect to other peers when i watch telly online with TVU player/Sopcast/TVants or any other online telly network.edit: I can d/l this openoffice torrent BUT it still says tracker is offline
seniorg Posted January 4, 2008 Author Report Posted January 4, 2008 Nope even those torrents appear offline timed out. my router doesnt seem to have a curious firewall either. Ive also setup port forwarding with that guide. still nothing. thanks for your help anyway EDIT!!!!could this have something to do with it: i get repeated lines in my routers log saying: 23:00:08 Unrecognized attempt blocked from 24.64.186.65:10674 to --- UDP:1026 23:00:08 Unrecognized attempt blocked from 24.64.186.65:10674 to --- UDP:1027 23:00:08 Unrecognized attempt blocked from 24.64.186.65:10674 to ---UDP:1028 23:08:18 Unrecognized attempt blocked from 24.64.12.128:11911 to ---UDP:1026 23:08:18 Unrecognized attempt blocked from 24.64.12.128:11911 to ----UDP:1027these were the times that coordinated with starting uttorrent.--- is my routers ip
TheHorse Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 reading another post - it appears I only managed to d.l the above torrent from other users with DHT enabled as the tracker remained offline throughout.I got these from a diagnostic test on my wireless router:Test the connection to your ADSL service provider Test ADSL Synchronization: PASS Test ATM OAM F5 segment ping: FAIL Test ATM OAM F5 end-to-end ping: FAIL means nowt to me....any ideas?
ajones81 Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 @seniorg: Looks like your router's blocking the connections to uTorrent then.
seniorg Posted January 4, 2008 Author Report Posted January 4, 2008 Yes so it seems. Yet i cant find any particular settings indicating that uttorrent would get blocked. anyone here with knowledge of Level One routers?
ajones81 Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 Are you sure it isn't a 3406? If so, have you followed all the instructions here (http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/LevelOne/WBR-3406TX/Utorrent.htm)?
jewelisheaven Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 UDP ports 1026-1028 are spurious messages?? They don't affect my downloading and depending if i hit a poisoned swarm they can reduce my logfile time from a day to a few hours.Depending upon your software setup ... do you have any "security center" software installed. Or a "bandwidth limiter"?Regarding the windows firewall, are you using uT's built-in map port function? If so can you remove all the extra firewall rules you don't need (uT may have made multiples) and then say OK and go back in to re-add the rule for the current port you are using? Also for tracker communication the allowed protocol needs to be TCP. DHT is on UDP so you may need to setup the rule in your router for both protocols.
