soultek101 Posted January 6, 2008 Report Posted January 6, 2008 Greetings all, I'm currently encountering a problem with uTorrent 1.7.5. After booting up this afternoon, my second hard drive was not initially detected (this drive contains all my torrent files and downloaded files), but I did notice this until I activated uTorrent and then got a series of Missing Files error. I immediately shut down my pc and did some tinkering with the ide cable of the second drive (old pc). After the second boot, the second drive came back again but this time when I checked with uTorrent, several files that were 100% completed and functional (I did some tests) were marked as not downloaded. I made several Forced Rechecks but came up with the same result.. the big 0 percent. Anyone that might have encountered the same problem? I was wondering if there was something that can be done about this... Thanks in advance.
ajones81 Posted January 6, 2008 Report Posted January 6, 2008 Try making sure the drive works and is accessible, then start uTorrent and try force re-checking.If that doesn't work, try pointing the torrents to the same dir. once again (right-click, Advanced, Set download location) and then force re-checking.
jewelisheaven Posted January 6, 2008 Report Posted January 6, 2008 If the pathing hasn't changed, and you haven't right clicked -> advanced -> change download location on any of the torrents, ajones81's suggestion will work (barring some hardware problem). Please note you can multi-select and force recheck and walk away while it does the checking. I wouldn't expect a fast recheck, I've only hit 48 (80% total throughput) MiBps on USB 2.0 external enclosure.
soultek101 Posted January 6, 2008 Author Report Posted January 6, 2008 Many thanks ajones81 and jewelisheaven for the suggestions. After trying several times but still getting the same result, I did a little experiment and removed the torrent from the list and re-added it again and did a force re check and somehow it worked. Does this mean it has something to do with the .torrent file itself being corrupted somehow?? Or some other file that sort of got "refreshed"?? I'll try the same thing with the rest of the torrents and see if the same thing happens. Again many thanks. Both of you have a nice day.
jewelisheaven Posted January 6, 2008 Report Posted January 6, 2008 The pathing / caption was most-likely broken. If you're feeling adventurous and want to compare working (current) with backup (unworking) resume.dat files download Ultima's Bencoded File Editor (BFE for short, heh) and browse to the ROOT subkey for your torrent. I'd bet it is now listed with a different path?? Then again I could be wrong. Mainly I'm happy you are fixed Thanks for the well wishes. You as well (the reason I suggest BFE is because you lose your stored settings, and if you find out what / why the first works now you can use the "find / replace" feature to do the same with your other files.
ajones81 Posted January 6, 2008 Report Posted January 6, 2008 The .torrent file would not have got corrupted. Hmm, something funny in your Resume.dat perhaps? Anyway, glad you figured it out.
