uTorrent Causing Network to Crash (Detailed Information Included)

Hello, I am not having any speed issues per se, but when I am connected and downloading on uTorrent, my network for the entire household will periodically drop in and out for minutes at a time. And yes, I've read all the stickies, and yes, I've changed all the settings within them according to the guide, as well as trying to patch TCPIP.sys (I'm on vista) which crashed my system so I had to revert back to the original. Here is my information:

Windows Vista Ultimate

2GB RAM

3GHZ Processor

Dell Laptop

Comcast Cable Internet

Speed settings:

Max connections: 200

Upload max: 35kB/s

I'm on a WRT54G Linksys router, but it's version 5 and I have the most current official firmware. Is there anything here that might be causing the problem? The guide says it only applies to versions lower than 5.

And well, you can (and should) flash DD-WRT onto that router. Stock firmware isn't too great.

[Method]

Just wanted to provide a quick update:

I lowered my settings all the way down to allowing only 7/ks up, and it seems to have successfully stopped the internet connection from dropping out, and I can still maintain some decent download speeds. To the mods - if some people seem to have tried everything, perhaps suggest to them to lower their max upload to very, very low levels, it might help if nothing else works.
