lambdoid Posted January 8, 2008 Report Posted January 8, 2008 I noticed today that all my torrents were red and that I could not connect to any trackers. I'm a bit suspicious and suspect foul play by my ISP Virgin Media. It might just be a temporary problem. It was working fine yesterday. Has anyone else got similar problems or know anything about it?
DreadWingKnight Posted January 8, 2008 Report Posted January 8, 2008 Does the problem persist with openoffice torrents?
lambdoid Posted January 8, 2008 Author Report Posted January 8, 2008 Yes, can't connect to any trackers. I can download and upload though.
jewelisheaven Posted January 8, 2008 Report Posted January 8, 2008 ...and the error listed under tracker status would be?
lambdoid Posted January 8, 2008 Author Report Posted January 8, 2008 (offline)timed out, exactly the same as all the other trackers.edit - it's working now, all the other trackers are still offline
DreadWingKnight Posted January 8, 2008 Report Posted January 8, 2008 And what internet security software do you use? What is your net.max_halfopen set to?
lambdoid Posted January 8, 2008 Author Report Posted January 8, 2008 Sygate Personal Firewall. net.max_halfopen is set to 80. The Openoffice tracker's offline again. Now most of the trackers are reporting 'An operation on a socket could not be performed because the system lacked sufficient space or a queue is full'.I've just pinged a couple of the trackers. No problem there. I'm now very suspicious that my ISP is blocking P2P apps.
DreadWingKnight Posted January 8, 2008 Report Posted January 8, 2008 Why do you have the net.max_halfopen changed at all?Have you tried it with the default of 8 or lower?
lambdoid Posted January 8, 2008 Author Report Posted January 8, 2008 I read somewhere, probably here, that you could improve your speed by doing this. I did a few things to improve my download speed, and did actually manage to max out my connection. Changing net.max_halfopen back to 8 doesn't do anything wrt trackers being offline
jewelisheaven Posted January 8, 2008 Report Posted January 8, 2008 Change your halfopen back. That error is covered in the FAQ and your tcpip was probably reset becuase of patch day
lambdoid Posted January 8, 2008 Author Report Posted January 8, 2008 Problem solved! The TCPIP.sys file had reverted back to the original. Thanks for your help
