shawf Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 I realized that initial seeding seeds lineary? I have searched forum but i could not find anything. If I miss a topic can you give me a link or explain that why initial seeding behaves like that.
DreadWingKnight Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 it's not 100% linear. If it comes across a piece that is already in the swarm, it skips it.
shawf Posted January 9, 2008 Author Report Posted January 9, 2008 Still it seeds non-seeded pieces linearly. Ie if we have pieces 3 and 6 in swarm. It uploads in sequence of 1 2 4 5 7 8. Swarm has pieces 3 6 because i switch to initial seeding when a bunch of peers connected to swarm and seeded normally about %20.
Lord Alderaan Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 Because initial seed option is for the initial seeder... as in the first and often only seed for a long time. Its a system to distribute different pieces as widely as possible and there is no reason not to do it linear (While during normal BitTorrent activity there are mechanisms at work that cause non-sequentiality).
shawf Posted January 10, 2008 Author Report Posted January 10, 2008 Yes, I am the initial seeder, thats why i can see availability bar goes linearly. Just wondered whether it is utorrents normal behaviour while initial seeding. As long as you say it won't affect anything worse then it is ok for me.
