mlm Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 here some interface upgrades that seem good for me (sorry for my bad english):- add an exit button in tab, - possibility to add/remove buttons and search bar in tab,- possibility to show/hide text under tab (IE bar like),- add a button to slide the general/clients/pieces/etc. bar on the bottom of the window (show/hide the part under it to make the download list bigger),- add a possibility to change "skin" (image files for buttons, icons, etc. and a text file for colors inside a compressed file with a comment inside for µtorrent to recognise it as a skin file),- add a windows slide effect when iconify,- for the 3 firsts, a possibility to control that with a right clic on tab bar.thanks
jewelisheaven Posted January 11, 2008 Report Posted January 11, 2008 Have you discovered the http://utorrent.com/skinning.php Skinning page Regarding the other suggestions:-Exit icon in the toolbar? Not really needed since you cannot disable the File menu display, and since uT recognizes Window Messages as well as Alt-F4.-Add/Remove Buttons? Not useful.-Add toolbar text descriptions for icons? Useful, but covered in the µManual and shown as mouse-over tooltips.-Slide lower pane down? Err, Have you tried F5.-Skinning? Prefixed to request analysis.-Slide effect? Err it's been a while since I've used XP out of "classic" mode so you'll forgive me if I ask 'what'? Window behaviour is handled by windows (exact place is Windows+Break "System Properties" -> Advanced tab, Performance sub-heading, Settings button -> Visual Effects tab) I guess I never ran that old 400 MHz PC I had with those options on and off to see the difference because on all new CPUs unless you have a "CPU throttler" program it's instantaneous and therefore just fluff and resource usage which could be used elsewhere...I like how you want uT to be user-customizable and I applaud the developers' goal to do just that in the new 1.8 line. If you wish you too can now check out the WIP (work in progress) which is uT 1.8 which has done better to follow the user's preferences on XP and in Vista . How to run uT pre-beta 1.8 is covered @ http://utorrent.com/faq.php#How_can_I_share_my_torrents_between_user_profiles.3F so you don't have to worry about co-mingling your settings of your existing 1.7 stable release
mlm Posted January 11, 2008 Author Report Posted January 11, 2008 Have you discovered the http://utorrent.com/skinning.php Skinning page smileyup, i saw this but i was thinking about some "user friendly" single skin file who contain everything (and a sub-domain for a gallery and uploading made skins to share with other users like the winamp skinning community)Regarding the other suggestions:-Exit icon in the toolbar? Not really needed since you cannot disable the File menu display, and since uT recognizes Window Messages as well as Alt-F4.well, i was thinking about this as a "shortcut" to exit program (other buttons are in the file menu too but have a "shortcut" in the bar)-Add/Remove Buttons? Not useful.again, it's for the personnal tastes of everyone, personnaly, i like the bar but i don't like the search bar inside, or if i want to show only the add/create/delete button for some reasons, etc. it's just for "user friendlyness"-Add toolbar text descriptions for icons? Useful, but covered in the µManual and shown as mouse-over tooltips.user friendly -Slide lower pane down? Err, Have you tried F5.i was thinking about hide all but bar (and the button for the user friendlyness ) but, thanks for the F5 tip -Slide effect? Err it's been a while since I've used XP out of "classic" mode so you'll forgive me if I ask 'what'? Window behaviour is handled by windows (exact place is Windows+Break "System Properties" -> Advanced tab, Performance sub-heading, Settings button -> Visual Effects tab) I guess I never ran that old 400 MHz PC I had with those options on and off to see the difference because on all new CPUs unless you have a "CPU throttler" program it's instantaneous and therefore just fluff and resource usage which could be used elsewhere...my mistake, i was thinking about something else ;;I like how you want uT to be user-customizable and I applaud the developers' goal to do just that in the new 1.8 line.
