DreadWingKnight Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 http://utorrent.com/faq.php#What_do_the_red_icons_mean_on_the_torrent_status_icons.3FGet us the tracker error message
jewelisheaven Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 If you run a patched tcpip.sys the recent windows update WILL AFFECT your system. Try changing your halfopen (Ctrl-P -> Advanced -> net.max_halfopen back to default.
jcjunkact Posted January 14, 2008 Report Posted January 14, 2008 hi just registered today and im having the same problem. Problems:1. Will not show green check at bottom2. All torrents will not connect to tracker (red)What I've done:1. Forwarded Ports2. Created exceptions in Comodo3. Dumped DHT4. Disabled DHT5. Closed Comodo and terminated all lingering processes6. Closed AVG Anti-Virus and all lingering processes7. Made sure Router and uT both have UPNP8. Made sure net.max_halfopen was 8 (default)9. Installed latest AMD x2 drivers System Stats:X2 5000+, 8600GT, 3GB XMS2, Windows XP SP2 (no updates), Comodo with proper exceptions, AVGIve tried everything and know there is no router firewall. Two of my housemates use azureus and connected right off the bat. This system is a new build and I had no problem using azureus or uT on my laptop. I suspect the problem is with Comodo but Ive disabled and terminated processes already. Windows firewall also has exceptions in place and has been disabled.Other info:1. Router is the Netgear WGT624 v32. Tracker message says "No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it. "3. When testing ports it says "Port 4435 does not appear to be open"4. Ive triple checked and branched out from just using port 4435 to creating a port range of 4433-44555. Internet service is comcast, unsure if they throttle or block ports but doubt it since my housemates have no trouble
DreadWingKnight Posted January 14, 2008 Report Posted January 14, 2008 5. Closed Comodo and terminated all lingering processesHooks are still there until you uninstall. It's not completely gone yet even when you do this.Software firewalls are unnecessary behind a router.
jewelisheaven Posted January 14, 2008 Report Posted January 14, 2008 actively refused.. on demonoid by chance? Demonoid has been taken down. Other trackers mean you still have a process interfering with normal operation. If you could post a log for Process Explorer and HiJackThis it may show you what is still running (which you uninstalled), or a bad uninstaller which doesn't remove services... It also may be you overloading your connection. I presume by "no updates" means you haven't installed the recent patches from windows update... Thanks for researching first and providing more than just basic information. System specs also help If you know your modem make/model you can try connecting to it to see whether it is blocking. Understand comparing to azureus is a misnomer. "NAT Error" does not mean you will not connect. It means you will not connect to other firewalled peers. See http://bt.degreez.net/firewalled.html for a tutorial / explanation by TheShad0w, creator of BitTornado.
jcjunkact Posted January 14, 2008 Report Posted January 14, 2008 thnx guys. im not on demonoid and it wasnt the firewall. i turned it off (this morning) and uT just started working (3am). turned the firewall back on so exceptions created in comodo work. i think the problem was a vpn connection i had to the university allowing me to access info from the library. however, there r still two torrents not running with trackers from pirate bay.other guys in the house have firewalls but im guessing theyre either firewalled or created exceptions. im the later, alowing all in/out tcp/udp connections from/to any port. the only thing blocked to uT is IP to IP connectionsMy guess is that pirate bay put a temporary ban on my ip and it should hopefully be lifted shortly. the torrent currently running has the tracker:http://denis.stalker.h3q.com:6969/announcethe two torrents being actively refused have different trackers:http://tpb.tracker.thepiratebay.org:80/announcehttp://vip.tracker.thepiratebay.org/announceand still display the message actively refused.correct me if im wrong. thnx again guys.
jewelisheaven Posted January 14, 2008 Report Posted January 14, 2008 "IP to IP connections"?? I'm confused about that, If you allow all TCP and UDP, why do you even have a firewall?I'm not sure about the IP ban, but afaik that would be the reason if everything else is configured for your connection to work.
Mac-the-Knife Posted January 14, 2008 Report Posted January 14, 2008 I would double check that you have installed update KB941644 from Microsoft, I had this problem and once I uninstalled the update all was fine. It is put as a critical update so if you have your settings put to automatically install this type of update then it will be in the list. Have uninstalled it on mine and set updates to be manually installed.
burneverything Posted January 14, 2008 Report Posted January 14, 2008 Just to say:KB941644 seems to create problems on some machines. It effectively killed windows firewall on a friend's machine as well as making ipconfig unavailable (and possibly more things I didn't check the whole system) and therefore the internet unavailable. All went back to normal after uninstalling it and making sure my friend wouldn't redownload it accidentally.
jcjunkact Posted January 14, 2008 Report Posted January 14, 2008 yea i allow all tcp and udp connections for uT but block for every other program. i never turned updates on and KB941644 is not installed.update:torrent 1 still runs with comodo on and runs between 6 k to 160 kbps. usually around 100k-120kbps.torrent 2 and 3 still will not run.still trouble shooting and think its the tracker ban...will try other torrents with different trackers.
mucky1957 Posted January 14, 2008 Report Posted January 14, 2008 hi guysI hope this is the right place to post this..Having real problems with utorrent 1.7.5I have a green connection tick next to dht and port forwarding is ok.When I try to download, all the files are showing red. If I go to the GENERAL tab and click on TRACKER I get the message offline(timed out) and connection closed by peer. Can anyone out there please explain to this idiot what he has done wrong and how to fix itthanks in advancemucky
jewelisheaven Posted January 14, 2008 Report Posted January 14, 2008 You don't need to multi-post your problem. It is rather rude to do so anyways.
mucky1957 Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 apolgies.first time on the forum. no excuse but sorry anyway.
