µTorrent slows my internet, even when im not downloading/uploading

The problem is, even if I cap the download upload speed my internet is going very slow.

I had this problem before, and after I got a new internetline.

Before I had 4000/500 (Download / upload)

Now I have 12000/1000 (Download / Upload)

Even if I have my download capped to 100 kbs and upload capped to 10kbs it slowing the internet alot.

If I close the program, the internet starts going fast again.

Anyone know what this might be ?

I hope you've set up Speed Guide / Connection Type using your upload and not download speeds.

Preferences / BitTorrent / Additional BitTorrent Features section / 1. Enable Local Peer Discovery 2. Limit local peer bandwidth

Try deselecting 1. and selecting 2.

Most likely a DHT and/or TCPIP.sys/net.max_halfopen issue (described in the thread ajones81 linked to, along with other possibilities).

Or incompatible software which interferes with proper operation... causes include LSP injection, internet QoS software. And there's always that kooky fix for multi-core systems relating to affinity (which has seemed to be unnecessary when removal of the incompatible software is complete).
