benknefelkamp Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 (I tried searching...)Is their a program for Windows Vista that will automatically lower my Utorrent UP/DOWN bandwidth settings to low or paused only when Firefox is running and then when I exit, it can return them to unlimited speeds? This would help greatly as I always have my UP maxed to get a good ratio; but I can't even download a movie trailer or some youporn without turning the speeds down. This gets very time consuming and I hate when I forget to turn it back on!I KNOW I CAN JUST PAUSE THEM MY SELF, OR TURN MY UP-SPEED DOWN. I am looking for an app that does it when it realizes firefox is running.Anything would help, thanks guys.
Ultima Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 Dunno. Perhaps NetLimiter? Leaving the upload rate at unlimited is not a good idea. You should be sticking to the Speed Guide's recommendations.
benknefelkamp Posted January 15, 2008 Author Report Posted January 15, 2008 I am using a private tracker wesbite. My download speeds are just fine with my upload maxed. I just want to be uploading at all possible times. Thanks for your help.
jewelisheaven Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 ... right, but maxed to what level. You should be setting your uT max speed to the max speed you can SUSTAIN... both while downloading, and not. Usually there is an 9-13% difference there because of not requiring the ACKs from receiving packets.
tjobo Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 Maybe you cook something up with autohotkey. It's a very powerful program. I would do something like this:1. when firefox process is active send upload limit to utorrent command (via webui) 2. when firefox process is not active remove all limits (or change previous)It shouldn't be to hard to put together. But if I get some time over, I might do it myself.
Firon Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 just set a reasonable upload or get some QoS.
