cwesselman10 Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 I have recently changed DSL modems. These are not router combos. I was using a Westell 6110 Model B90-611060-06. My new modem is a Westell 6100 Model E90-610060-06. My DNS servers on my old Westell 6110 modem are different than the new Westell 6100. I still have the same ISP - Cincinnati Bell Zoomtown. I was informed by my ISP that this modem pulls its own IP...I guess that's what they said. Anyway, in IPCONFIG /ALL my DNS has changed and only using a "preferred" DNS, there is no secondary. Previously, the DNS preferred was 216.68.4.10 and secondary was 216.68.5.10. Now, with the new Westell 6100 modem, the preferred DNS is 192.168.1.200. This is the actual DNS server IP address 192.168.1.200 on my Westell 6100 modem. I have setup the new preferred DNS server address 192.168.1.200 within my Network settings and static IP has not changed. The static IP within my Belkin router and Network settings is 192.168.2.136. Subnet mask has not been changed 255.255.255.0. I edited the IP address for the DNS server within the trusted zone firewall settings in Zone Alarm Free Edition. I have setup my Belkin F5D7230-4 wireless router virtual servers with static IP address and port number 53614. Actually, the changes in the wireless router have not changed. Port number is the same in Utorrent settings. Basically, I have successfully setup this up in the past with my old modem and no problems. I have tried my old DNS server IP addresses with the new Westell 6100 modem but did not resolve the port forwarding issue. I was still able to access the internet, though. For some odd reason, Port Forwarding does not work with the Westell 6100 modem. Again, there is only a preferred DNS server which is 192.168.1.200 and no secondary. I've tried everything to setup Port Forwarding and have researched many forums on Utorrent. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Switeck Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 "Belkin F5D7230-4 wireless router"Belkin routers are notorious for not being able to handle more than about 60 active connections, even with a LOW half open rate.Wireless may make that worse.
jewelisheaven Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 If the WAN address for your modem is 192.168... you are permanently firewalled. The reason?? You are double or triple-NATd.
