bit_king
Just updated to 1.3. The default is at 4096. What does this number mean?

1c3d0g
4 KiB, or 4096 bytes. The amount of bandwidth DHT can use...it's best left alone.
alcaholjunkie
4096 is 4kB/s which is the default rate allowed for DHT by µtorrent I think. (don't set it below 2048 if you change it)
Firon
thanks for reading the FAQ.also, don't change the value.
ColdArmor
What was the point of putting it in? ... seems kind of useless to change how much bandwidth DHT can use at this time
Animorc
DHT was using above 10kB/s at some very rare occasions before. I guess that's the reason for the setting. It could be a hidden setting though so that noone would have to figure out what it's for.
Firon
I got DHT to spike once at 13 kB/s.It's pretty rare, but possible in certain situations, so I asked ludde if he could put in the option to prevent it from becoming a problem with some users (DHT shouldn't be using that much anyway), since I wasn't the only one that experienced it. Klaus_1250
The point is that is may be a problem for users with little bandwidth.
Firon
That's why it was implemented.
eisa01
What happens if everyone limits it too low? Will DHT stop functioning, since the peers don't have enough bw to pass info along?
Ultima
No, but it might take a little longer to get peers. Just a little (since DHT doesn't use that much bandwidth in the first place).
Firon
If it's set too low, their DHT won't work well. (it might become an internal value, to prevent users from changing it and screwing it up)
