wildwolf Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 Hi, I live in Spain and my ISP is Telefonica. We only recently were able to get broadband and my connection (claimed by Telefonica) is 512dl and 128 ul. I have read the setup guides and the downloads seem to be coming in ok (wish they were better, but dont we all) but my upload speed is a crawl. As this is all about sharing I need to know how I can improve my upload speed at all to better share. I may be newbie to Utorrent but I have a keen interest in computers and have built several successfully. Could anyone help me at all?
jewelisheaven Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 What kind of speeds are you experiencing? Note that 512/128 means you can expect no more than ~56KiBps download and 12-14KiBps upload in uT.
wildwolf Posted January 16, 2008 Author Report Posted January 16, 2008 Hi, my average download speed varies between 20 -40 but my upload is always less than 10 and most of the time less than 5. When a torrent finishes and it only seeds the upload is less than 1. At this rate I'm going to get banned for not sharing. Help!!!!
jewelisheaven Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 If you notice peers connecting and disconnecting < 30 seconds later while downloading, and immediately disconnecting upon seeding, there's nothing you or I can do to help you. It sounds like your ISP is actively crippling your ability to transfer files. To see if you can get around it, why don't you go through post #2 in the How-To, and reduce your global connections to something HIGHLY restrictive like 20 and per torrent to 5 to see if that helps. I am also presuming you have already tried forcing encryption and ignoring legacy connections.
