Whats blocking utorrent?

I connect to the internet through the LAN in my locality..

Ive been using utorrent for the past 2 months..

I have windows vista ultimate installed on my PC. without any firewall (except windows firewall)

Utorrent never created any such trouble before as it is doing now.. It started yesterday when i thought VISTA was too heavy for my system and i should un-install it and move back to xp.. After installing xp, i opened my utorrent.. but all it was showing was nothing except "Hostname not found".. I tried other public trackers as well but it was still the same.. I even turned off windows firewall to check it but no use..

Even my AVG free edition failed to update..

I talked to my LAN admin, he said he didn't do anything..

So i thought maybe there's something on my PC thats blocking it..Can someone please help me out with this problem? I would be really thankful =)

That is a compact install. Nothing injected into uT, which is good. Are you sure you need a proxy redirect to DOTCOM:8080 ? You may also have the nvidia firewall installed... Did you just install the nvidia driver or the whole package?

I dunno, but C:\Program Files\Microsoft Firewall Client\isatray.exe is not the windows firewall. With Ctrl-P -> Connection -> "Add µT to Windows Firewall exceptions" enabled the addition is handled automatically.

I'd verify your settings which were setup correctly are STILL setup correctly. I presume you have forwarded ports from your Default Gateway? Hey, it can't hurt to remove any rules in Firewall Client, and re-make them. If that still doesn't work, why not uninstall it. Afterwards you can go to Control Panel -> Security Center and enable Windows Firewall.

Does DUMeter affect download speeds? If avg update doesn't work (which is http), try anything large from microsoft.com . If that still doesn't work your LAN manager is a liar and f00ked with your stuff. :/ Sorry that's the only other thought I had.

Nope, DU meter does not effect downloading speeds..

I tried to update windows xp from microsoft.com which went pretty well..

Lan manager.. he's acting innocent..

Sorry bro. im unaware of these term..

I get constant downloading speed (average) btw i.e 90 kb/s on both torrent clients and other download managers..

PS: I use a private trackers for torrent downloads

If you get the same speed with openoffice there's nothing wrong with your uT or LAN then. The swarms you're trying to connect to have peers with low upload speeds :/

My problems are more basic, I go into torrent and click on a search and nothing hapens

at all, no firewalls blocking ,program is allowed through the downed firewall and still nothing, not even error message or any message , just nothing, any ideas, sure would like to be able to use what I purchased.

Your problem is a broken setting in your system's "Set program access and defaults".

But if you paid for uTorrent, you got scammed badly. The more you paid, the more you got scammed.
