Sorabji
I just now downloaded utorrent from the official site. The instant I started downloading my first torrent, Norton popped up an alert saying it had blocked Deep Throat Trojan. I just installed a new system two weeks ago, and I know I'm clean otherwise, and have no other leaks anywhere.I had a similar problem with Ares, but have never had that problem using TomatoTorrent on Mac.I keep reading that utorrent is supposed to be clean, and I know about false positives. But Deep Throat, by accident? Can anyone please help out with some advice? Thanks in advance.
DreadWingKnight
I highly suspect that it has to do with the Local Peer Discovery support.I suspect norton is being overprotective.
Sorabji
Okay, thank you for the reply. I hope you're right. It just seemed odd that Norton would actually name a known threat as opposed to saying it just blocked an anonymous attack like it did when I used Ares. Firon
AV programs tend to report something as being a specific threat when they see a certain port being used, even though it may have nothing to do with it.
Switeck
And just why the heck is the antivirus software playing 'firewall'? ...or is it the firewall software too now?
jewelisheaven
OP probably has "norton internet security".. firewall+AV+worm+email, etc. and so forth, you know..
