Same here re-added µtorrent to the firewall, it still gives me problems, I think its time this is acknowledged as a bug in the update!

saying you added the rules to the firewall doesn't mean there's not a problem with the firewall itself. Providing a HiJackThis log for your computer and a Process Explorer log of the DLLs injected into uT is the next step if it is a problem with uT.

i have the same problem as the problem Dali encountered (post was in the previous page).

I never changed anything on my pc. Everything was working fine until I installed the update yesterday. After that, I kept getting the following error in utorrent: No connection....target machine refused it.. I tried other torrent clients thinking I can connect but same problem appears (used bitcomet and azureus)

I am using vista and my firewall was also disabled. I cant think of any more places to check. I also did the portforwarding checking and it says that none of my port is open!!! why is that? Please please hopefully someone can give a solution.

Is there any way to undo the update to 1.7.6, I seem to be having the same problem everyone else is having and it happened right after I updated it, no seeders no leechers and utorrent is unable to connect to the server. In the general tab under tracker it keeps saying"no connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it" for every tracking url, and I have no icon "not even a yellow!"at all anymore at the bottom of the screen to show connection status, also the DHT icon at the bottom of the screen keeps saying "waiting to login" I have vista and windows defender is my firewall, it apears to be allowing utorrent unless theres seperate settings menu that I don't know about. Im dead in the water right now any help would be appreciated.

@chocolatte12: Perhaps avast!'s P2P shield is doing something weird? Can you try disabling the P2P shield in avast! if you haven't already done so?

Also if you really think it is uT f00king with your stuff a DLL list of the utorrent process isn't off the mark.

You are aware Nero Scout and Roxio will mangle your ability to download consistently right? They apparently open files they are spidering in RW- mode, instead of just R--. GDS is also on the Incompatible Software list in the FAQ.

I also experienced this poblem after upgrading from 1.7.4 to 1.7.6....immediately after upgrading, with no other changes. I'm using windows firewall and i removed and readded utorrent and utorrent.exe to its list of exceptions. Before i upgraded i maxed out at over 700kbs total download, now i rarely get over 40kbps, and utorrent isnt finding many seeds or peers. torrents that were dling at 400-500kbps at times now wont even download. I have no port forwarded nor did i ever, im on a free comcast workplace wireless network provided by my apartment. Im running a gateway laptop w/ amd 64x2 2ghz, 2gb ram, and i connect via said wireless network, or via a bluetooth tether to my blackberry (i dont run utorrent then) I'm stumped, heres my hijackthis log:

I'm amazed you haven't had problems with all that installed. Firstly, that's alot of BHOs.. did you install all of them for your IE7? Just because it's not IE6 doesn't make it any more "secure". Also you are running Nero Scout and it APPEARS the roxio suite (but not the indexer), BOTH of which are reported to have problems coexisting with uT due to opening files in WRITE mode. Google Desktop Search appears to have the same problems.

Hmm.. I've seen O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [Launcher] %WINDIR%\SMINST\launcher.exe before.. and it didn't look any safer back then. I'd make sure BitDefender isn't causing problems...

(I think everybody agrees on this?) and it seems useless to check on this if we want the utorrent problem to be solved at once.

To make the problem clear, utorrent is not picking up any seeders at all and not even connecting to any tracker. Like everybody said, this happened after we upgraded to 1.7.6. Hope that is now clear

I can understand EVERY SINGLE PERSON posted, posted because they have this problem. I never try to dispute people telling their experiences. Alot of support is getting people to tell you what you need to know. Unfortunately given I have not experienced this problem I am only going through the procedures outlined by Ultima's great How-To and my own theory/logic. Since I do not have problems and I do not have extra software running (I only use Windows Firewall from time to time) and I am correctly forwarded I know 1.7.6 when setup correctly. That upgrades (from 1.7.5 and earlier) do not go smoothly I empathize with and try to resolve as succinctly and painlessly as possible. Truly speaking, to see if uT is "at fault" the primary escalation beyond checking settings should be a Process Explorer DLL list of utorrent.exe for injection. Only AFTER that where applicable should a HiJackThis log be necessary, since many programs simply don't behave when injected into uT.

Wouldn't you agree a program which when injected causes uT to crash/freeze/act weirdly should be removed/disabled/fixed if the same symptoms don't exist when uT does not register that program's injected DLLs?

True that they might be the reasons but strange for me since they have been there since version 1.7.2 so why the sudden problem after 1.7.6. Sorry I am a little stressed out about this problem and I want to get to the real cause very soon...

Furthermore, it didnt only affect my utorrent, but my torrent downloading as a whole.. if you can recall, I mentioned in my first post that I tried downloading using other clients but also failed and encountered the same problem (bitcomet and azureus to name them).

A little observation, I see that most of us are using Vista with Internet Explorer 7.0. This shows us something in common. Maybe we start looking at this?

i managed to get into my apts router and forward a port. got seeds,peers, and dl speeds up to 300 kbps. i dont think it fixed my problems, i bet if i still had 1.7.4 i would be getting dl speeds sround 1mbps. using hijackthis i removed neros, roxios, google desktops and the mystery ones entries with no change. still dont know how to proceed. im pretty good with the pc, but im over my head here
