Identifying and fixing wine/utorrent bugs

Howdy,

Utorrent is very popular for users of wine, however it has a few problems:

http://bugs.winehq.org/buglist.cgi?quicksearch=utorrent

Even though recent efforts have been made to fix these bugs:

http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=31998

It would be more helpful (to both wine and utorrent users) to fix these bugs in wine itself. Would it be possible for utorrent developers to write small (i.e., < 25 lines) test programs to identify and test these issues in wine? This would eliminate the need for utorrent to work around wine bugs, and allow wine to better run utorrent (and other applications) out of the box.

Wine bugs can be filed at:

http://bugs.winehq.org

Thanks for your help and great program!

-Austin

A happy wine and utorrent user

Indeed, you can search for WINE on this forum and pull up lots of collaboration between WINE developers and uT developers. Some are anonymous and don't identify themselves as such, whereas others identify themselves in the signature. If you want to see some recent changes, check out the 1.8 development thread in the Announcements forum.

We just do the absolute minimum to hack around them so our users have at least a minimally decent experience.

No. If anyone working on WINE has a question that no one on the bug tracker can answer, please tell them to post on the forum or e-mail us directly.
