JimD
Just d/l'd build 364 as a first time user. I've mixed impressions so far but what makes this almost impossible for me to use (and for anybody with epilepsy), it the way the blue bar across the screen under the 'General' tab flickers every fraction of a second (this is a relatively old PC). This is HUGELY annoying to the point it makes me feel ill. I've tried altering the milliseconds the GUI updates but it makes no difference. How come I hear people saying stuff like 'It takes no more resources than notepad!', yet in this regard it seems labored compared to the likes of BitComet ? In fact no other client I've tried before had this problem.Any help here to solve this issue would appreciated.
Firon
doesn't actually take a lot of resources even when doing that.the flickering is from a lack of double buffering also, this is known, there's a few other topics about it.
JimD
Okay, it's a known issue. That's good to hear. So should I stick with it for now in the hope of a fix sometime soon ? Is it an easy fix ? What happens when I swallow my tongue ? Am I covered on your insurance ?Also with regards to reading the rules, I did a search first but the syntax of 'flicker' I used initially did not return the results regarding a couple of previous posts about the subject. What should have been an all encompassing entry using the string 'flicker', did not return the same results as a later attempt using the full 'flickering'.Just wanted to be anal about it. ;-)
Firon
Well, I don't know if a fix is in the works or if it's trivial to implement, but at the very least it's nothing more than a visual glitch (it shouldn't affect CPU use)...And it happens, don't worry too much about it. I'm rather interested in why changing the refresh rate makes absolutely no difference, though.
JimD
Changing the milliseconds that the GUI updated just made it flicker (a single flicker) between longer pauses. Tried it slower and faster and it still did the same thing. That just seemed crazy to me.I'd try to ignore it but that tab has a lot of info on it and those bars cannot be hidden or removed, so for now, it's going to be an issue for me. Actaully, I have to avoid certain sites/applications that have certain extreme forms of flickering or scrolling as I'm very susceptible to migraine headaches (no joke) and this type of thing sets it off like nothing else. I'm serious. This is why it's even more of an issue to me.Like I said, if it's not only me having the problem, then I'm sure it'll get sorted eventually (uTorrent, not the migraines). Firon
You can hide the general tab, as well as the toolbar and even the status bar.F4 F5 and F6, or click on Options I have flicker too (on a fast system), but it's barely noticeable here.
