Ports refuse to forward.

Okay guys, I have tried looking everywhere on the internet for possible solutions for my problem but I have failed to find one. So as my last resort i will go to the people here for some help. Thank you for your time.

Okay, my NAT was not always closed/red. It used to be green about a month ago and then it because red out of nowhere. I don't believe anything from my own doings have caused this to happen but I now I primarily get reds and yellows although once in awhile I will get a random green

I have set up a static IP on my computer.

I have turned off uPnP on my router and uTorrent.

I have my port forwarded correctly on the router.

The port itself is 39581

I have no firewalls running that could interfere.

I have tried resetting everything already and a different torrent client brings about the same result.

I cleaned out everything using BitDefender and Spybot.

My router is a Netgear WGT624v3

What modem are you using? Did you set a static IP up for your computer outside of the router's DHCP range before you forwarded your port?

I am using an RCA DCM425 Broadband modem.

And I'm not familiar with what that means, elaborate please?

You generally need to set your computer to have a static IP if you want the router to forward the port properly. Without a static IP, your computer's LAN IP is not guaranteed to remain the same, and if it does change, the port forwarding rule won't change with it (so it'll be forwarding to another computer instead of yours).

Oh no I have a static IP set up but I did not understand what you meant by outside of the router's DHCP range.

Look in the router's configuration; it should mention DHCP somewhere, and allow you to set a range (either with something like starting/ending IP, or starting IP with number of IPs in the range).

Is that what you mean?

Yes, it is, and that's a ginormous range. Try setting the end IP address for the range to 192.168.1.199, and set your static IP to something like 192.168.1.200.

Why does it show that as my IP?

Don't worry about the IP that the port checker displays; that's your WAN (public Internet) IP address, which is different from your LAN IP. Um, have you restarted your computer? Does the µTorrent status bar's network status light show that there is a listening error? Did you update the port forwarding rule in the router to this new static IP?

I'm not really sure what to say... Try removing and recreating the router port forwarding rules again, just to be certain nothing's wrong? What happens when you connect your computer directly to the modem? Does the problem persist?

Im currently not in a situation where I can try that but what would it mean if it does persist? Once in the past trying to fix this problem I have tried it and I didn't even get a connection.

I made a rather extensive post here about steps one should take when using security software including filters/firewalls/internet protection. It looks like you've gone through all those steps so maybe you can try running 1.8 from the Announcements forum self-encapsulated and see if maybe you try to run it with your software enabled may prompt you, instead of actively blocking it?

I'm not running anything that would block it. So I can't get prompted for it and I did install 1.8 with no luck.

I don't know what else to say, except do the same steps you did previously to get it to work. Closing uT should have no impact on static forwarding rules.
