I'd never before encountered the 'disk overload 100%' issue, even though I've used large torrents many times. And after tweaking the disk cache options I've stumbled on a new issue. After downloading, the finished pieces never write to the disk and just pile up in the 'pieces' window. Did I flip the wrong switch or is this a bug? jewelisheaven Posted January 27, 2008 Report Share Posted January 27, 2008 Persistently staying in the Pieces tab would be a bug. However I do suspect you're not waiting long enough. Unchecking write out finished pieces immediately tries to lessen disk access by changing the dump to disk operations for pieces to be every 20? or 30 seconds... instead of immediate, which results in less seeking. harbinger471 Posted February 1, 2008 Author Report Share Posted February 1, 2008 Sorry guys...been out of action for a few days.I'm overriding the automatic cache size and have set it to 500 megs, which resolves the overload.Reduce Memory usage .......checkEnable Caching of writes....checkWrite out untouched blocks....uncheckwrite out finished pieces.....uncheckEnable Caching of reads....checkTurn off read caching....checkRemove old blocks.....checkIncrease automatic cache.....checkIt seems to write ok for a few minutes....then stops dumping to disk. Could you post a process explorer dll list for utorrent.exe (download zip, open procexp.exe, Ctrl-L, Ctrl-D, click utorrent.exe, Ctrl-A, copy-paste below)... :/ Even downloading at my peak bittorrent download of 3 Mbit it writes to disk (as exhibited from pieces tab) every 20 seconds.
