Manic Posted January 30, 2008 Report Posted January 30, 2008 I updated to 1.7.7 yesterday and now uTorrent won't even open.I've ununstalled, deleted, and reinstalled several times, but it won't work.Every time I try to open it i get an error that says"it seems that uTorrent is already runing, but is not responding. please close all processes and try again"I've closed it and tried to close the processes from the task manager, but the process won't close and I can't get uTorrent open at all.
mrNickname Posted January 30, 2008 Report Posted January 30, 2008 uninstall utorrent, reset windows firewall, and restart PC.. than install agian and see
jewelisheaven Posted January 30, 2008 Report Posted January 30, 2008 use msconfig to remove the duplicate entry(ies)... if you installed it only the utorrent.exe from your program files is needed. All the others can be deleted
Manic Posted January 31, 2008 Author Report Posted January 31, 2008 use msconfig to remove the duplicate entry(ies)... if you installed it only the utorrent.exe from your program files is needed. All the others can be deletedi don't mean to sound dumb, but i typed "msconfig" into the "run" prompt, but i didn't see anything about deleting files and i didn't see anythng about utorrent on there
jewelisheaven Posted January 31, 2008 Report Posted January 31, 2008 if there are no run entries for utorrent then it's not set to run on startup. Post a HiJackThis log please. It allows a better view of what's what.

jewelisheaven Posted February 1, 2008 Report Posted February 1, 2008 :/ Well that log says your uT IS running, though it's not running from RUN subkey. Try start -> run -> "C:\Program files\utorrent\utorrent.exe" /BRINGTOFRONTThat should pop up the main UI.
Manic Posted February 1, 2008 Author Report Posted February 1, 2008 ok, i typed that into the run prompt and it gave me an error that C:\programfile\utorrent refers to a location that is unavailable.I looked in C:\programfiles and I found the uTorrent folder so I'm not sure what the problem is.
jewelisheaven Posted February 1, 2008 Report Posted February 1, 2008 It's two words, that's why I surrounded it with "". Try it again. If that doesn't bring up the uT GUI... You can close the uT process. How do you launch uT? Do you use a special shortcut: Desktop/Quick Launch/Start Menu?Check the properties for that shortcut (right click, properties)... are there any commands added to the end of the command line?? I'm talking about things like /BRINGTOFRONT
Manic Posted February 1, 2008 Author Report Posted February 1, 2008 I changed a few settings on my computer, but they had nothing to do with uTorrent, however, when I restarted my cpu i tried it just to so if it would work, and now it seems to be running just fine.I'm not sure what it was that caused the problem, but it seems to be fixed now.Thanx for the help, i'll be back if I run into any more trouble
jewelisheaven Posted February 1, 2008 Report Posted February 1, 2008 Whoa, fast response OK, glad it works again, heh. Quite welcome. Happy FRIDAY!!!
