Connection drop-out 5 mins after opening Utorrent

Hi there,

I have browsed many many forums trying to get the answer to this but can't seem to find correct answers....

My internet connection works fine. As soon as I open Utorrent, 5-10mins later it stops downloading torrents and I am unable to browse webpages or use any online features. The little icon starts off green with a tick, and my port forwards correctly. 5 mins later it turns yellow with an exclamation mark there. When I check whether my port forwards after approx 5 mins, it either can't open the webpage or says that my port is not forwarded correctly.

BUT before anyone jumps to conclusions which everyone likes to do on these forums, I have tried to set my IP address as static and set my utorrent port to forward on the router both in port forwarding and port triggering. Doesn't work. I have also tried enabling UPnP on the router and Utorrent. Doesn't work either.

I have been to a website which allows you to see which ports are open or closed. It says that the utorrent port is being let through by the router which suggests but still can't get through which indicates something is wrong on the software side (be it utorrent settings or firewall settings or whatever...)

I have only got the windows firewall up and running. I have excluded both the utorrent port (TCP) and the application file (utorrent.exe) with no success.

My need to know comp specs are here:

Windows XP Pro with service pack 2

Windows Firewall

PC Tools Spyware Doctor v5.0.0.187

Avast Antivirus Home Edition v4.7

Netcomm NB9W adsl 2+ modem

ISP: TPG

ISP Plan: 24576/1024 kbps 30Gb unlimited with VOIP

Country: Australia

Also note that I was connected to another ISP and modem/router before and was still having the same problem.

PLEASE HELP!

spyware doctor doesn't play nice with uT. Have you tried any of the steps from the How-To? TPGI does work when configured... I can up/down to you guys @ .5Mbit. If you've cut down your connections and extra features (How-To post #2) then post a HiJackThis log please :D

But personaly I'm thinking after you remove PC Tools you'll be golden. (Note: searching for pc tools or spyware doctor will give you other users' results with that ... software)

So if I was to remove spyware doctor, avast antivirus and turn off windows firewall, what would be the best suite to replace them with? E.g. :

NAV 2007?

BitDefender Total Security 2008?

What is compatible with Utorrent and best program?
