hofshi
it could be nice to have the ability to change dht.rate by right clicking on the DHT section of the status bar, much like the upload and download caps. The dht.rate variable in the advanced options can hold a list of customizable values like gui.ulrate_menu, with a default of 4096 as a single value. that should ensure that people don't mess with it unless they need to, and make it easy to change in case of need. ICleolion
Not keen on this as this will just encourage people to mess with it. And the reason its only in the Advanced Options is because its recommended that it shouldnt be messed with.
hofshi
@ICleolion: If you read my post, you will see that it will remain in the advanced options as before, and you won't be able to mess with it w/o entering the advanced options and changing the default value to a custom list. Animorc
The dht.rate is _never_ to be changed. I think setting it to be a constant unsettable limit would be better.
ICleolion
@hofshi: ok now we are on the same wavelength, and after reading Animorc's post maybe a combination of the two ideas would be good. Have it set so a few numbers between 1024 and 4096 (for example) are coded into the list, and can't be changed ever. Unless there is a way Utorrent could automatically determine if your on a 56K or lower connection and therefore change the DHT rate down on startup to something lower for you. Firon
No.The next version isn't even going to let you change it. It's gonna be an internal value, as it SHOULD be.
