Bits
1.7.7 is still crashing for me. It's not really as often at 1.7.6 but its still maybe 2-3 times each day. It usually beeps first and then I know that something is wrong. Sometimes it'll just stop responding and then I have to close it then open it up by myself. Other times a message pops-up and says that there was an error and it asks me to restart, ignore, or make a dump file (or something). I don't know if anyone else has this problem but I still do. Firon
The crash dump files -should- be created in utorrent.exe's folder. If not, check %AppData%\uTorrentIf you find them, zip them up and e-mail them to greg@bittorrent.com with a link to this thread.

It's not related to Utorrent but any help would be great. Ok so I have a Linksys WRT54G router and a Sympatico connection. All the plugs and everything is connected properly and the router even says that the its all connected and the internet is working. Then my computer says that it connects and it works. But still for some reason nothing works. Firefox, IE, utorrent, nothing works. It was working perfectly but then I restarted my computer (I didn't make any changes to the internet connection that I remember) and then it stopped working. Does anyone know what my problem could be?The only reason that this is working right now is because I made a new connection without the router but no one else in my house can go on the internet now. wickedKlown
I don't think that I need to supply any crash logs, etc. The same problem exists only it is far worse. My app used to crash about once or twice a week, now it is 4 or more times a day. And I am sick of it because once it crashes then I have to wait for ages while utorrent checks the files. DreadWingKnight
Why don't you think that you need to supply crash logs?If you have incompatible software on your system we need to know.If you have improperly configured software on your system, we need to know. jewelisheaven
I don't think that I need to supply any crash logs, etc. The same problem exists only it is far worse. My app used to crash about once or twice a week, now it is 4 or more times a day. And I am sick of it because once it crashes then I have to wait for ages while utorrent checks the files.So... you would want to FIX and diagnose the problem, not try to work-around or ignore it yes? Checking 4GiB takes up to 10 minutes on my computer... and I have anywhere from 1-10 GiB of files accessing at any one time. Please report back the information as advised Noone who helps here and especially the dedicated staff ENJOYS seeing users with problems. But if said users don't work with the helpers/staff they lose. Period. It is completely illogical and unfeasible for any user to expect/force the programmers to fix a problem with software 1) they don't normally use 2)are unfamiliar with 3)goes against their choice of not running bloated and ineffective software on their system.@ Bits, thanks for the new log. Unfortunately it doesn't show anything hooked into uT. SO, :/ I'm going to ask you remove this SpySweeper for the time being. Actually, in addition is that RTWLAN.exe some driver to get your internet over USB or some third party driver for your chipset? Do you notice the crashing / freezing happening at the same times each day or after a certain amount of time AFTER launching uT?Regarding your other internet problem... I have a feeling Ares likes to sap up half-open connections. AND I think it doesn't provide an easy way to change it like uT does. For uT the option is under Ctrl-P -> Advanced -> net.max_halfopen and by default runs under the post XP SP 2 limit of 10. HOWEVER with two filesharing applications open at once it isn't unexpected to see timeouts due to aggressive network usage. If you want to run both at once, lower the applicable settings in both programs (I have absolutely no clue where it would be in Ares)... Alternatively check out http://utorrent.com/faq.php#I_get_a_socket_buffer_space_error_and_the_client_halts and patch your tcpip.sys. Note that this may cause additional problems if you set it too high and then Ares chooses to use up all the available slots still. Please report back if the SpySweeper removal resolves the freeze/crash issue.

mcdonaldodl1
I have been experiencing crashes when I start up utorrent ever since I updated to 1.7.7. I wish i could go back to my previous version . I have disabled my firewall so that is not the problem. I wonder if anyone knows a way to get the old version. I guess I will be looking for another torrent software. A shame as I was real happy before. So they realy should keep old versions downloadable if you ask me. jewelisheaven
Yup. Noone asked you. What software firewall are you using that you haven't re-made the rules for uT?What software from the http://utorrent.com/faq.php#Incompatible_software list are you running? What kind of troll are you attempting to be>?To post here you should have at LEAST posted the URL to an uploaded .dmp file. After that post your DLL list for utorrent.exe from Process Explorer. And I bet if you posted HJT log you'd be told immediately what's unstable and causing uT problems.
Firon
You can't really disable firewalls, unfortunately. They stay hooked in even when "disabled."
THat Serb
Im actually finding that im also having a big problem with the crashes. It happens every so often, and it started only after I go this new version. 1.7.7. Twice is resulted in my file checks not going through, and having to restart a download. Most of the time it crashes so I cant even send in an error report. I've sent 2 so far, and not been able to at least 5-6.

jewelisheaven
Find the .dmp files in the same directory as your settings.dat http://utorrent.com/faq.php#What_is_AppData.3F .. I'd recommend compressing it if it's larger than a couple MB... and go to mediafire.com and upload it, then edit/paste the link in this thread. bthoem
Same problems - hangs/ crashes. Both with 1.7.6 and 1.7.7.Problem starter after I installed AVGs free "suite", with antivirus, malware and spyware. I suspect the mal- or spyware to be the problem, AVG Anti-Virus has not caused problems before. What can I do to help debugging?
