scott805
Every since the update to 1.7 I've been having a strange occurrence with uploading where the up arrow will turn to red and tracker details say timed-out but it will continue to show a upload % and amount. The problem is the uploads are not showing on any of the tracker sites I use and as someone who always strives for a 1:1 ratio this is a big problem. I can exit utorrent and restart and the 2-3 uploads will again start green but after about 20 minutes they time-out. I've went through all the tests with speed and port forwarding is good. I turned off all firewalls.UPnP enabledNAT-PMP enabledwindows exception on45 kbs max uploadwith alternate rate at 500Can anyone help since I spent a lot of time searching through the forums with no luck Thank you
jewelisheaven
... It's likely you're overloding your connection. If you go Ctrl-P -> Advanced what are bt.connect_speed and net.max_halfopen set to? They should be default (* denotes non-default state). Unless you are on a 5Mbit line you may want to change that alternate upload to 58.
scott805
Well I never messed with the advanced settings and really had no troubles at all until this version. bt.connect 20net.max.half 8Now I'm getting time-out with download- but it still downloads and at a good rateCan I adjust one of these advance settings to help? I changed the alternate upload as you recommended.Thank You
bringerofchill
I am having the same problem. But it only seems to happen when i'm seeding more then 2 files at one time. I'm testing it out with 2 files right now, and it doesn't timeout and will update if i force it to update. If the tracker status keeps "working" I will let you know. scott805
Well bringerofchill I'm sure we aren't the only ones and I think utorrent has a bug they need to fix. Let me know how your test go for me I still get time-outs but with 3 uploads. I used to routinely up over 5 at a time, no problem. Not much help here yet... DreadWingKnight
I'm not convinced there's a bug.I'm more convinced of internet security software throwing a shitfit because uTorrent's executable is compressed.
jewelisheaven
... additionally you should try all the steps in the How-To and post what steps you were able to complete and what steps you were unable to complete in your reply. (Pay attention to post #2, as it gives features you can disable without affecting your speeds)... once your uT works again, slowly re enable features to find out what coincides with the problem. This may then suggest an alternate solution. I'm betting router settings aren't conducive, or your ISP simply dislikes the active connections. Suxen
I'm convinced there's a bug. I've not had any problem on uTorrent 1.7.5, and suddenly when I upgrade to uTorrent 1.7.7 I get endless amounts of problems with trackers timing out.net.max.half: 8TCPIP.sys patched to allow 50.Not running a firewall. Not running AV software.Use alternative BitTorrent software, and it works fine and dandy. No tracker problems. There's been a slew of topics about this since uTorrent 1.7.6 and 1.7.7 was released.
jewelisheaven
Be convinced all you want. What steps from the How-To have you tried to make the problem go away?
scott805
Well I lowered the net.max.half to 4 and forced all uploads. I also don't use any firewall or spyware/AV software. Fingers-crossed now for they seem to be not timing out now. But the upload speed is slower and I'm running less torrents than the 'old' utorrent use to handle. jewelisheaven
Force Start should NOT be used regularly. It also does not affect tracker communication. Lowered half-open counts is a good step in the right direction. If it resolves itself If not, try disabling more features.

Monarch
Scott & Suxen you are absolutely correct. Something is wrong with the 1.7.7 version of Utorrent. I was downloading and uploading just fine until I updated to 1.7.7. Now everytime I begin to download a torrent the tracker times out with many seeders and leechers available. I made no adjustments, everything is the same as it was before I updated. I was downloading only one torrent so I wasn't maxing anything out. Face the facts fellas, Utorrent now has a giant cockroach in it.
Patfett
I am having this problem too. I connect fine to start then I get the timeout of death error 15-20 mins in. On average I seed/leech 2-4 torrents. The error happens once in a while while leeching, but frequently with seedindg. I've tried messing with connections and dl rates with no luck. I have a high speed connection so I don't see how setting above average settings could effect me sine I have the bandwith.I have comcast. Could that be my problem? I've read a lot about how they have been shaping bit traffic.
jewelisheaven
... Choosing to badmouth and not try to help resolve your problem is not only rude, but proof that you don't really want to solve the problem. I made quite a useful list of steps to try after problems upgrading to 1.7.6 surfaced. You can find my post useful if you run additional security software.Feel free to report steps which were and weren't successful below. I'm holding out hope you're smarter than you appear to be from your ill-informed and childish post above.
Monarch
I helped by alerting you to the Frankenstein (1.7.7) that's killing everyone's progress. I also helped myself by uninstalling that freak of nature and going back to old reliable 1.7.6. and everything is back in order!
jewelisheaven
.. you may have said "yeah me too" but you didn't alert anything. There are no known problems with 1.7.7. The changes as seen in the changelog relate to possible exploits to crash the client, which noone wants.
scott805
I wonder why you say there are no known problems with 1.7.7 when there is several people here having problems. Or do consider having to read through page after page of boring 'how-to's', change numerous settings, run test after test and post results here just to get back to where I was before the "upgrade" 'not a problem. I understand how troubleshooting works. I told you what I changed-force all torrents, lowered net.half.max and it seems to work but if I don't click force they will time-out. I don't have hours to kill to do all you want but I wouldn't be spending any time at all if I didn't enjoy Ut. Thanks for your help so far and when I have time I'll try more test etc. Do you want a hijackthis log?
DreadWingKnight
Here's the thing. Not everyone's configuration is identical, and if it were truly that buggy, the developers would have noticed in their prerelease testing.Post the hijackthis log and process explorer list with dll injection. Monarch
I've just noticed something that's pretty interesting. I'm not saying "case solved" but it's something that I just happened to take notice of. I've noticed that whenever I'm downloading from this one paticular tracker, that's when I start having all the timing out problems. As I said before, it's just an observation at this point.... scott805
Well Monarch I thought the same for awhile until I had time-outs with two separate trackers within minutes of each other. My problems with 1.7.7 have gone away for now after a lot of checking of settings. Forcing start has helped but I haven't been needing to do that since I lowered the net.max.half setting in the advance section down to 4. I also cut down the max global connections to 200, besides that I adjusted the upload speed but that didn't seem have any affect. It wasn't until the day that I changed the net.max.half that the problem went away but I can't say for sure what the whole problem was. I'm just glad all is working ok for now. My download speed can hit up to 1000kb but I never seen it upload over 75kb though that is the nature of bittorent. Thanks to all that helped and I hope when Ut 1.8 is out it won't cause the same glitches!!!
bringerofchill
I've been going with the 2 torrent max upload since the time of my first post, and haven't had any trouble with timing out. So maybe that will help some of you.
c00kie
Yea.. I have timeouts too (seeding 80 torrents), never had this problem before.../me goes away to the how-to'sps: Firon, as a developer I think what you said is just plain stupid ("works for me, so...") roflmao?! suckerpunch
I am having the same problem. I had zero problems with 1.6.1 but updated to 1.7.7 and after 20 minutes or so my torrents turn red and say that the torrent offline (timed out). This happens on all of my trackers. I think it might have something to do with my firewall; COMODO. Does anyone else use this that is having problems?
