htnakirs Posted February 1, 2008 Report Posted February 1, 2008 I would like to limit the number of pieces being downloaded to 10, per torrent. How do I do it?
jewelisheaven Posted February 1, 2008 Report Posted February 1, 2008 Interesting choice for forum... There is no automated way to enforce sub-file prioritization/piece downloading. When your already downloaded + queued pieces = 10 you can set the rest of the file to "Do Not Download" however and uT will finish up pieces and then only upload.
htnakirs Posted February 1, 2008 Author Report Posted February 1, 2008 The problem is that too many pieces eventually lead to too many hash fails, and discarded data. I would like to reduce that.
jewelisheaven Posted February 1, 2008 Report Posted February 1, 2008 ... Invest in http://utorrent.com/faq.php#What_is_ipfilter.dat uT has increased reduced hashfail data in 1.8 by implementing a smarter system. Bad peers are usually kicked in under 1 bad piece for piecesize > 128 KiB in default settings. If you want to try out 1.8 self-encapsulated is the way to go right now It's still in-development.
Switeck Posted February 2, 2008 Report Posted February 2, 2008 Lower upload slots per torrent and fewer connections per torrent max should in theory indirectly reduce the number of pieces per download. Naturally, these CAN (but not always!) reduce download speeds. However having upload slots semi-low isn't a bad idea -- uTorrent often finds the biggest peers to share back to you still.
