Coragyps Posted February 2, 2008 Report Posted February 2, 2008 Hi, I'm new to this forum, but have been using utorrent for a month or so. I figured out port forwarding, where to set my upload speed and all that. And my downloads were pretty good (80-100k down, most the time, occasional spikes). And I could still browse online with only slight deterioration of quality. For the past few days, however, my download speeds have dropped sharply, (20-30k at best, often below 20k) and despite the very low speeds I am unable to browse at all while utorrent is running.I have tried a variety of torrents, so it is not the particular thing I am trying to get.My connection speed is ~2Kdown/256kupFollowing the settings suggested by utorrent my upload is capped at 22k. Any suggestions? What am I doing wrong?I didn't change any settings from the time I had good speeds til now.
jewelisheaven Posted February 2, 2008 Report Posted February 2, 2008 :/ What kind of router do you have between you and your ISP? It's possible it became overloaded in the time from your starting to use uT. A quick check to see if you can get around the limit is to try post#2 of the How-To... more specifically disable DHT in uT.
Coragyps Posted February 3, 2008 Author Report Posted February 3, 2008 I have a linksys router (can't remember the name, but not one of the troublesome ones ) I followed the tutorial at portforward.com to do my portforwarding.I have cable internet (not in the US). When I do speed tests it says my speeds are about what they are supposed to be http://www.speedtest.net/result/229822108.pngI disabled DHT yesterday, didn't see any sort of difference.
