MissC218 Posted February 4, 2008 Report Posted February 4, 2008 Hi all, I am very (extremely) new to bittorrents. I have been through the set up guides for my router, I have set up a static IP address, I made the exception to my firewall, and I did the speed tests. I have read and re-read the set up guides and am fairly confident that I haven't overlooked anything. I still get an orange triangle with a notice, "No incomming connections" and my speeds are-- D: 5 - 10 kB/s and U: 18 - 25kB/s. It also says that my ports are still not forwarded properly in the Options menu.Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
AllGamer Posted February 4, 2008 Report Posted February 4, 2008 if the error messages says so, then it's correct, and the ports are not setup properly yet.did you enable random port?is your router UPNP compatible?
MissC218 Posted February 4, 2008 Author Report Posted February 4, 2008 Random port is disabled as per the instructions they gave me for my router. It's a D-Link DI-604. I am running Windows XP SP2. My speed tests are coming up at 230kbs down and 256kbs up. The UPNP is also disabled as the instructions told me to do. I will do the openoffice and get back to you. Thank you.
AllGamer Posted February 4, 2008 Report Posted February 4, 2008 wait did you do the Manual port forwarding then?since you mentioned both a disabled.did you put the same Port number from uT in the DLink router port forward page?
MissC218 Posted February 4, 2008 Author Report Posted February 4, 2008 Yes, I did the manual port forward. Still not sure if that was a good idea, but i am on the net. Yes, the same number is in both, just double checked.Speeds for OpenOffice are 28k down and less than 1k up
AllGamer Posted February 4, 2008 Report Posted February 4, 2008 what is your ISP DSL advertised speed?the one you are subscribed to
MissC218 Posted February 4, 2008 Author Report Posted February 4, 2008 They told me 100Mbps up and down.
Ultima Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 DSL can't run at 100Mbps. Post the results of the speed test linked to from the Speed Guide. What modem are you using, and what firewall?
