hey guys. I bet ppl get "port forwarding" questions unlimited amount of times....however, my problem seems to be pretty different. ( so does everyone else think creating a new post.)

Anyway, I'm using Zyxel P-2602R-D1A modem (info here: http://www.zyxel.com/web/product_family_detail.php?PC1indexflag=20040520161246&CategoryGroupNo=35E87D65-4EB2-46BF-A25F-6DCA5D2DD5EA) ADSL, have a dynamic IP adress.

It's true that the first problem already seems obvious - i have a dynamic ip adress and the modem i think has a firewall. I'm a complete noob and haven't tried anything with my modem since i risk screwing it up big time and not returning back to the way it was.

Basically, I read as many forums as i had time for and found out that fortforward.com already has this modem, but many ppl used it and it was without any luck. I have good speeds with UTorrent (100 kB/s - 1MB), but the problem is that the little sign on the bottom of utorrent always changes to a red circle and only random few ppl can connect to me. So, i can download and upload very well if i'm lucky enough.

The first step for sure will be probably to change to a static IP adress (which i'm not sure how to do, but let's say i follow portforward.com guidelines and succeed) but then what? I though there was no point in trying everything according to portforward.com since many tried already and failed and they weren't noobs either, more like ppl who've done it several times with different modems...

Help will be appreciated, because if u can do it, then u r pretty much second to none in the port forwarding field.

Thank you in advance.

jewelisheaven, thnx for answering so fast, i've read that forum thread u posted and it seems i don't get a lot of the stuff mentioned there, which i must say, made me very depressed and uncomfortable with my noobness....obviously best way would be to google every term i don't get and read every torrent forum possible that mentions those terms....BUT, the thing is, that way it will take me forever and i lack in time...and won't it help the others as well if this whole complicated thing with utorrent and slow connections and port forwarding were explained in more detail as if written for retards? in a step-by-step manner i mean (first, press this, see (sentence) written there? tick it..ok, r u still with me? good..now...) I'm sure there's some very general guide that works for everyone, sort of like a check list...

i'm using utorrent 1.7.7, as far as i know, my ISP didn't do anything to stop me from downloading, what i'm not sure of is wether or not my modem also works as a router. It's just a simple connection really, just this Zyxel modem, directly connected to my pc and a phone line, that's it. However, i don't know how to forward that modem, it seems to have a firewall and i don't have a cd or anything from it, it just came as it is in a box from my ISP all configured and stuff.

BTW, my LAN IP adress is the ip adress i saw when entering "cmd /k ipconfig /all", right? u also mentioned this router configuration having "port forwarding" or "virtual server" and outbound/inbound ports thing, but how do u get there on the first place?

I was also wondering what are these: HiJackThis logs and Process Explorer DLL? seems like smth helpful to give to a person helping...Do u think those who are willing to help will need smth else?

thnx a lot ans sry for the long post
